LEGO Black Friday 2013 Shopping Deals

LEGO Brick Friday Promo

Thanksgiving is here and Black Friday 2013 shopping is upon us and the biggest shopping day of the year is about to begin. As we reported a couple of days ago, LEGO brand stores and Shop@Home will be having their own Black Friday shopping event called “Brick” Friday. The event starts tomorrow and will last until Cyber Monday December 2nd. There is free shipping on all orders from Shop@Home and if you spend $149 or more, you will get a $10 LEGO gift card. For orders of $99 or more, you will get the Limited Edition Seasonal Creator Holiday Set #2 (40083).

Like with the early VIP Black Friday shopping event last week, people shopping at the LEGO brand stores on November 29th, you will have a chance to win exciting gifts including a $1,000 shopping spree. This offer will only be available while supplies last. Also, in-store shoppers will also be getting a free Holiday Pick-A-Brick box with purchases of $75 or more.

LEGO has also sent out their Black Friday/Cyber Monday deals. These deals will start on Thursday 9pm PST/Friday 12am EST. Feel free to check out the links we’ve provided below. Every purchase you make through our links will help support The Brick Fan. We usually don’t ask for support but it would help maintain our site and keep it running smoothly. Also feel free to use our affiliate links on the right sidebar as well if you’re shopping at those particular sites. Now on to the deals:

LEGO CUUSOO Projects To Actual LEGO Products

If you’re new to LEGO CUUSOO and wondered how a particular project goes from the idea stage to an actual product, ReBrick has recently done an article with LEGO Group Head of Community Business/Busniess Manager Daiva Naldal to explain how the process goes. After a project gets 10,000 supporters, it heads to the LEGO Jury/Review Board which consists of people from different departments:

“It consists of different people who represent different departments within The LEGO Group, to make sure that we have a decent and proper evaluation of each idea. We have LEGO Designers and people from our main markets,- like Sales and Marketing people, who will then be responsible to validate the sales potential. We also have representatives from our Brand Management Team, securing that the projects fit our Brand guidelines. And we have a close relationship to License and Legal, as well as Product Development Teams. So we get insights from all teams in order to make the final decision.”

Daiva also explains that many projects aren’t selected to become actual products not because the designers don’t like it but the company has to look at different aspects to make a decision. One aspect is to get a licence from the original IP. You may have seen that there have been a lot of projects on CUUSOO that have reached the review stage that require a license to use the particular theme.

“Sometimes we cannot not secure the partnership, sometimes it clashes with our own development projects that are in the pipeline and sometimes

Is LEGO Top Gear in the Works?

Brick Fanatics reported yesterday that the British television show Top Gear is asking individuals to take a survey to possibly bring the show into LEGO form. The survey, limited to 3000 responses, asks what kinds of LEGO sets would people be interested in and which Top Gear characters would people like to see. We already know that the LEGO Stig key chain (below) was available last year in the UK but now there might potentially be official sets in the future. Brick Fanatics has also provided an image of a concept set which features a race car trailer and the pit crew. It looks similar to the Grand Prix Truck (60025) that is currently available in stores but a little more elaborate. In my opinion, it might be a good concept but I don’t see it happening. Would anyone be interested in official LEGO Top Gear sets?

LEGO Store Early Black Friday 2013 VIP Shopping Event Aftermath

LEGO Store Exclusive Holiday Shopping Event

Today, I was privileged to attend the early Black Friday 2013 VIP shopping event at my local LEGO Store in San Diego. I got to meet up with some friends, members of SandLUG, as well as fans of The Brick Fan. When I checked at the front door, I was handed with some goodies including a free Holiday Pick-A-Brick box, a peel-off card with a chance for a $1000 LEGO shopping spree, a LEGO Store VIP bracelet, and a LEGO The Hobbit poster. The event is also available online minus the free Pick-A-Brick box and the peel-off card.

For the peel-off card, there were choices of a free LEGO set up to $16.99, a keychain, and one lucky winner from all brand stores will get the $1000 shopping spree. There might be more choices but those were the ones I heard people talking about. I was lucky to get the free set and I chose the LEGO Technic Mini Tow Truck (9390).

The Hobbit poster features many characters from next year’s The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug sets and is not made from normal poster paper but from a thicker matte material. It is a great poster to frame and hang on your wall. According to the December 2013 LEGO Store calendar from December 8-15, you can get a free poster with any Hobbit set. I’m not sure if it will be the same one as the one given out today.

The Holiday Pick-A-Brick box is the same one as the one given out with … Continue
