LEGO Batman SDCC 2019

Earlier today, LEGO revealed their third and last life-sized model that will be displayed at San Diego Comic Con 2019 with Batman and a 3D mosaic of the Detective Comics #1000 variant comic book cover. Batman stands 6’5″ feet tall and uses 44,051 pieces to create. It took Master Builders 270 hours to design and build. The comic book mosaic uses 96,768 pieces and is over 10 feet tall.

Zur-En-Arrh Batman Revealed as Exclusive Minifigure at SDCC 2014

FBTB has just dropped one of the biggest bombshells for LEGO at San Diego Comic Con 2014. Ace has revealed that LEGO will be giving away the DC Comics Zur-En-Arrh Batman as one of their exclusive minifigures. Although there are no images at this time, the outfit will probably look similar to the one picture above. Zur-En-Arrh will probably be given away either Friday or Saturday and The Collector on the day that’s left over. This will probably be one of the most sought for minifigures this year at SDCC. Check out the details of the giveaway process here.

If you’re not familiar with Batman of Zur-En-Arrh, he was first introduced by France Herron as an alien named Tlano from the planet Zur-En-Arrh. Later on in Grant Morrison’s version, he was brought back as Bruce Wayne’s backup personality in case Batman was mindwiped or driven to insanity.

Update: Back in May, LEGO released an image (see below) promoting LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. Batman is shown standing in front of different suits and also pictured was the Zur-En-Arrh outfit which could be the one that will be given out at SDCC. Thanks to Dave for the reminder.

LEGO Games Cancelled

If you’ve loved the various games that LEGO has released, we’re sad to report that we may have seen the last of them. All About Bricks is reporting that LEGO will be cancelling the Games theme by the end of the year because of poor sales. The theme did have great sales when it first launched back in 2009 but sales of the sets have dropped off since then. All About Bricks also states that the “current range will be available until all supplies are depleted” and that the Games that were supposed to be released later this year are also cancelled. Those sets are:

  • Batman (50003)
  • Story Mixer (50004)
  • Legends of Chima (50006)
  • The Battle of Helm’s Deep (50011)

LEGO has not confirmed that the Games theme will indeed be cancelled but the article states that last year’s Games will be the final sets to be released. You can still pick them up at many retail stores as well as on Shop@Homeicon. You can also purchase sets from Amazon cheaper than the retail price as well as FREE shipping with Amazon Prime.

LEGO Technic Motorized Tumbler Batmobile

PaweÅ‚ “Sariel” Kmiec, author of The Unofficial LEGO Technic Builder’s Guide and creator of many amazing models, has created one of the most realistic Christopher Nolan Tumbler I’ve seen and one in which fans would beg to see this on LEGO CUUSOO. This remote-controlled Tumbler has many cool features including full independent front suspension as well as live axle rear suspension. The steering mechanism is as real as it can get. While cornering, pieces of the body unfortunately fall off slowly due to the “powerful propulsion system with a soft suspension” of the Tumbler. A nice little touch is the LED-lighted jet engine that is connected to the drivetrain. It even has two spring cannons that is fired remotely. Overall, this is probably the best Tumbler I’ve seen and could possibly pass off as a model in the Dark Knight Trilogy. Check out more details of it on Sariel’s site.
