LEGO Store Fashion Valley Community Window - Monsterbrick

The Community Window at the Fashion Valley LEGO Store has been recently changed out and this month it features the work of Matt Armstrong, aka monsterbrick. For this month, Matt has brought in some of his animal-type builds including a cobra, elephant, spider, and mouse. If you have Beautiful LEGO 2: Dark, which we reviewed back in October, you may notice a couple of the builds have been featured in the book.

Beautiful LEGO 2: Dark

The cobra build named Danger Danger! was created in 2009 and consists of about 500 pieces, mostly with claw elements. If you stretch it all out, it is a little more than 5 1/2 feet in length.

The other build that’s been featured in Beautiful LEGO 2: Dark is the spider. It is named No…Lil Miss Muffet Lives Down the Street and it consists of about 100 pieces.

Finally, the last animal is the Mecha-Elephant. What’s cool about this build is that the legs are from the style of the Star Wars AT-AT. The rest of the elephant is just Matt’s style.

I’ve seen images of these builds online before but to see them in person is totally different. Just the sheer size and detail of these builds are truly amazing. If you’re in San Diego, I suggest go checking out the Community Window for yourself. Also if you’re lucky to have a LEGO Store near you, go check out some builds of local … Continue

The LEGO Movie Themed Community Window at Fashion Valley LEGO Store

Fashion Valley LEGO Store Community Window

The Community Window at my local LEGO Store in San Diego (Fashion Valley) has been changed out and the new model is The LEGO Movie themed. It was created by Tommy who is a fellow member of SandLUG. The build is actually an interactive model where he has placed 12 Emmet minifigures throughout the whole model. The store even has a cool little contest where they are giving away the remaining Benny posters they have to children who can find all 12 Emmets. If you’re in the area, stop by the store and check out Tommy’s model and see if you can find all 12 “hidden” Emmets. Technically, I found 14 mentions of him but who’s counting 😉

March LEGO User Group Showcase at Fashion Valley Store

Fashion Valley LEGO Store Showcase

Spring is here and we’ve have a cool looking new model at the Fashion Valley LEGO Store showcase. This model was created by members of L Gauge which is a group of members in the LEGO Community here in the San Diego area who are working together to create a museum for visitors to see the history of LEGO.

This month’s model at the store is a scene showing minifigures having a fun time at the beach just like what we have here in sunny San Diego. Check out the images below.

LEGO Store Fashion Valley Named Brand Retail Store of the Year 2013

LEGO Brand Retail Store of the Year 2013 (Fashion Valley, San Diego)

I’ve just gotten news that my local LEGO Store in Fashion Valley (San Diego, CA) has won the LEGO Brand Retail Store of the Year for 2013! LEGO takes in many factors to choose the winner and the surveys we fill out after our purchases do factor into account. It isn’t a surprise that the Fashion Valley store won because the staff there is simply awesome from all the Brick Specialists and to Mike the Store Manager. I hang out there a lot (more often than I should) and I’ve seen first-hand of how the employees take care of their customers from answering questions customers may have to a simple thing like the check out process. If you have a chance to go to this store in Fashion Valley, show your support by congratulating the staff there. They do great work and they truly deserve the award!
