LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force Official Cover and Exclusive Minifigure Revealed

Last year, I reported on a new LEGO DK book coming out this year called LEGO Star Wars: Chronicles of the Force and now the final cover has been revealed as well as the exclusive minifigure that will be included which is The Force Awakens Unkar’s Brute. Star Wars Force Friday 2016 Returns in September

It appears Force Friday will be a yearly thing as Star Wars: Rogue One will have its own event and there are reports that it is planned for September 30 for this year. The event again will be connected to the upcoming movie being released in December although the date of the event has been pushed back a little from last year’s date.

We already know there will be five LEGO Star Wars sets based on the movie with set numbers:

We also know there will be three Star Wars Buildable Figures with the set numbers:

We’ll most likely see official images of the sets at the Force Friday launch date similar to last year with very heavy embargo rules.

LEGO Star Wars Resistance Trooper Battle Pack (75131) Review

At the beginning of the year, LEGO released some new LEGO Star Wars Battle Packs including the Resistance Trooper Battle Pack (75131). This particular one consists of 112 pieces and retailed for the usual $12.99 price point. The contents of the box include two un-numbered bags and the instructions.

LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures Trailer

A week ago at the New York Toy Fair, we finally got some details of the new LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures and today there’s a trailer online for the new TV series. There’s also a description of what the show is about including the names of the Freemakers: Kordi, Zander, and Rowan who are searching for the Kyber Crystals. Check out the trailer below. Long ago, a Jedi Master forged the Kyber Saber, a lighsaber made of Kyber Crystals. It proved to be too powerful, so the Jedi Master shattered it, and scattered the crystals throughout the galaxy, to keep the power out of evil’s hands. LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (75105) Wins 2016 Toy of the Year Award

The 2016 New York Toy Fair is over and done and after that, there were also the Toy of the Year awards given out to the best toys from last year. Not surprisingly, LEGO was again in the running for some awards including winning the “Boy Toy of the Year” for the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon (75105) which was the best toy developed specifically for boys of any age. If you haven’t checked out my in-depth review of it, you can read it here.

LEGO was also nominated for “Game of the Year” with LEGO Dimensions but lost out to the popular party Pie Face Game. Note that LEGO Dimensions was the only non-tradional tabletop game in the category.

Finally, Star Wars won “Property of the Year” for the licensor with the greatest success spreading its brand or property throughout the industry while generating interest and excitement. Obviously LEGO had some impact with the brand winning with all of the various LEGO Star Wars sets we got last year, especially with The Force Awakens sets.

LEGO had been in the running for various Toy of the Year awards in every year since the awards have been given out in 2000 and I won’t be surprised if they make the list again next year.

Watch LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises Pilot Episode

If you missed the 6 minute pilot episode of LEGO Star Wars: The Resistance Rises – Poe to the Rescue, Disney XD has already uploaded the episode on their YouTube channel. As usual, there’s the humor that these animated shows have. There will be more episodes in the future and they will be announced in due time. Check out the episode below.

With the help of C-3PO and BB-8, pilot Poe Dameron devises a plan to rescue of one of the Resistance’s most important leaders, Admiral Ackbar, from Kylo Ren and Captain Phasma.

LEGO Star Wars Summer 2016 Set Images from New York Toy Fair

We can now finally see the box and set images of the summer 2016 LEGO Star Wars sets courtesy of The Brick Show. The first two sets are based on the LEGO Star Wars: The Freemaker Adventures with the Eclipse Fighter (75145) above and the StarScavenger (75147) right below. There are also two sets from The Force Awakens as well as Rebels and the Clone Wars. This year’s advent calendar was also displayed but it does contain spoilers so that’s at the very bottom if you want check it out.
