LEGO The Hobbit Video Game Featuring Ocean’s 11

LEGO The Hobbit Video Game

IGN has released a new trailer video of LEGO The Hobbit Video Game based on an Ocean’s 11 theme. The crew consists of the Dwarves of Thorin and Company setting out to regain their lost kingdom. A heist if you may. The trailer gives some of the Dwarves nicknames such as The King for Thorin, Oin as The Jumper, Ori as The Shooter, and Kili as The Ladies Man. The nicknames also correspond to some of the abilities the character uses like a slingshot for Ori, and Oin’s ability to jump higher. The game is action-packed and has the usual humor thrown in to lighten the mood. Check out the PC Demo as well as what you can expect to find in the game.

LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded Minifigure Revealed

LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded

DK has just revealed the exclusive minifigure that will be in the LEGO Star Wars Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded book on their Facebook Page. It will be Luke Skywalker in his Tatooine outfit. They named him “retro” Luke Skywalker because it is the same yellow-skinned variant that was found in the Landspeeder (7110) set from 1999. This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars theme and DK is acknowledging that. The book is available for pre-order on Amazon and will be available in May.

More LEGO The Hobbit Video Game Gameplay Details

LEGO The Hobbit Video Game

The LEGO Video Games blog has given us some gameplay details of the LEGO The Hobbit Video Game. There have been some big improvements while navigating through the game or the HUB as the designers call it. In these HUBs, players can now go inside Hobbit houses, find secret tombs, cellars, and Elven and Dwarven ruins. In these secret areas, you can expect to find some nice hidden treasures. These items can be used to enhance character abilities and also to unlock new quests in a brand new quest chain system.

Another thing you can do in story mode is crafting new items by the way of the Blacksmith. You will have to mine hidden LEGO ores found throughout Middle-earth. Also defeating Orcs, Goblins, and Wargs can also net you some of these loot items and can be used to create a Mithril Weapon. Perfect your Blacksmithing skill and you could even create “perfect” items that glows to show its unparalleled craftsmanship. Check out our video below of the PC Demo.

Doctor Who Project on LEGO CUUSOO Already Surpassed 5,000 Supporters

It’s only been a week since LEGO CUUSOO announced that they would start accepting Doctor Who projects and so far there have been many projects listed but one of them is leading the pack. That one is created by GlenBricker in collaboration with Kaminoan and is simply named Doctor Who. The project suggests 5-7 minifigures, K-9, and 3 brick-built Daleks with the TARDIS and the console. Currently as of this writing, it already has quickly amassed 6,980 supporters so we know that the demand is there for an official set. CUUSOO has also sent out their official comments for passing 5,000 supporters. Since there are so many Doctor Who projects listed, we can’t feature them all but be sure to check out all the ones listed and spread the word about them. Maybe yours will be the next one reaching 5,000 supporters and on your way to getting 10,000.

Congratulations on 5,000+ Supporters!

2014.03.05

That pretty blue police box does more than just police boxing. It’s a time machine. Don’t believe me? Just look at how quickly this project reached 5,000 supporters! Aside from the beautiful TARDIS this project offers Minifigures, a K-9 and brick build Daleks. We think it is safe to say that the essence of Doctor Who is captured in the awesome project.

Remember that LEGO CUUSOO is set up to produce individual sets, so we suggest you prioritize and reduce the number of minifigures you recommend be included in a potential LEGO set. Otherwise we would like the liberty to choose

LEGO Store March 2014 Mini Monthly Build Event & 40096 Review

LEGO March 2014 Mini Monthly Build Event

Yesterday was the March 2014 Mini Monthly Build event at my local LEGO Store (Fashion Valley, San Diego) and as usual, the place was packed with parents and kids building the Spring Tree (40096) set. It may seem from the images that the store was bombarded by families and customers but the staff on the floor had it all under control. I didn’t stay for the whole event but it looked like everything went smoothly.

LEGO March 2014 Mini Monthly Build Event

This month’s mini build was a 62 piece Spring Tree. It’s a simple built tree with eyes and a blue jay sitting on top. The piece count may be misleading since the build is made up of a lot of small pieces. It does come with some nice tan arch pieces but it looks off because the rest of the tree trunk is brown. The base is created with two 2×4 lime plates instead of a single 4×4 plate. I also didn’t understand the purpose of the eyes. Overall, it is just a tree with some wacky designs that kids can enjoy.
