LEGO has officially revealed the newest LEGO Lord of the Rings set in Portugal, the long awaited UCS The Tower of Orthanc (10237). The set contains 2359 pieces and will retail for $199.99 and will be available in July. This new Ultimate Collector Series LOTR set comes with 5 minifigures: Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf the Gry, an Uruk-hai, and an Orc Pitmaster. It will also have a buildable Ent figure as well the Great Eagle which is also in the Battle At The Black Gate (79007) set. The set was teased back in January where there was a blurry image of what was believed to be the Tower but was taken down quickly. Below is the official press release of The Tower of Orthanc.

Toys R Us LEGO May the 4th Building Event

Toys R Us will also be having their own “May the 4th” event at participating stores. According to the image above, you can build a mini Jek-14’s Stealth Starfighter from The Yoda Chronicles from 12pm-2pm. Remember that LEGO stores will also have their own “May the 4th” event with the exclusive Han Solo minifigure and the release of the UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240).

The newly announced LEGO Star Wars UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240) is now listed on LEGO Shop@Home. It is priced at $199.99 and is expected to be released on Star Wars Day, May 4th (May the 4th be with you). Last year, LEGO had some deals going on for two days including a free exclusive TC-14 minifigure, free poster, and free shipping. If my prediction holds true, LEGO will most likely have a similar promotion during this time. Stay tuned for more details.

LEGO Star Wars UCS Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240) Revealed

At LEGO World in Copenhagen, LEGO has officially announced the next LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Set, the Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240). A few days ago, Kevin Hinkle did mention that a new exclusive set will be revealed outside the US and today, we now know what that set will be. The X-wing will contain 1558 pieces and will retail for $199.99. It will be released in May 2013. This is the second incarnation of the X-wing with the first one being released back in 2000 (7191). Like the previous model, this X-wing will also include a R2-D2 minifigure which we probably have about 3 or 4 of already.

With the release of this X-wing, I feel that the phrase “Ultimate Collectors” is diminished because in my opinion, sets shouldn’t be remakes of previous models but something new that haven’t been released before. On the other side of the coin, it’s nice for newer collectors who didn’t get a chance to get it the first time around. With that said, I’ll probably be picking it up since I got back from my “Dark Ages” a little late.

LEGO Star Wars UCS B-wing Starfighter (10227) Revealed

LEGO has released pictures and a video on the new LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collectors Series B-wing Starfighter (10227). The set consists of 1428 pieces and retails for $199.99. It will be available for sale in October. One thing to note is that this set will not include any minifigures. The B-wing first made it’s appearance in Episode VI during the Battle of Endor. LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2 (10225) Review

During May the 4th, I managed to pick up the brand new LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector Series R2-D2 (10225) from Shop@Home. LEGO also had a promotion where if you purchased $75 worth of Star Wars set you also get a TC-14 minifigure and also a Limited Edition R2-D2 poster. The R2-D2 set contains 2127 pieces and retails for $179.99, which is $0.08/piece. The box itself is pretty large and has some many nice pictures of him on all sides. Inside the box, it has 15 numbered bags, 3 instruction booklets, and 1 sticker for the plaque.
