LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235)

Today is the last to get your orders in for the free LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) set on Shop@Home. The minimum purchase to get it is $88 and it’s a pretty good promotion since this is the first time that the US is able to get these Year of the Zodiac animals. Check out my review of the set if you’re still on the fence about getting it.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) Promotion Live on Shop@Home

The new LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) promotional set is now live on Shop@Home. To celebrate Chinese/Lunar New Year, LEGO has released this cute little set that was previously only available in Asian countries and in the UK for a short time. To get the Year of the Dog set, it is free with purchases of $88 or more. The promotion runs from now until February 28, while supplies last. If you see the slider on Shop@Home, the $50 minimum purchase is incorrect as you have to have at least $88 in your cart. I’ve already done an early review of the set if you want to check that out.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) Review

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235)

The Chinese Lunar New Year kicks off this Friday, February 16 and it is a very important holiday for the countries that celebrate it around the world. According to the Chinese Zodiac, 2018 is the Year of the Dog and to celebrate LEGO will be releasing the Year of the Dog (40235) set with purchases of $88 or more at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home starting this Friday. If you think the purchase requirement seems a little off, that is because the number 8 in the Chinese culture is considered very lucky and $88 signifies double joy/prosperity. This also marks the first time in the US that we can get these Year of the Zodiac sets and we don’t have to rely on friends or the secondary market to get it.

The Year of the Dog set is the fourth of these small boxed sets and fifth overall if you count the 4-in-1 Year of the Snake (10250) set from 2013. The box is very cute showing off the Dog and there’s even a space to put a name down for the person you want to gift this set to. The back of the box shows off some of the articulation features of the Dog.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) Available in February in the US

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235)

I have the February 2018 LEGO Store Calendar and one of the main promotions for the month is the LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) set. Apparently for this year, it is not an Asian country exclusive as we will be able to get it from February 16-28 with a purchase of $88 or more, while supplies last. The Dog joins a number of previous animals that have been released that are from the Chinese zodiac.

Coincidentally, February 16 is Lunar New Year so it’s nice to see that LEGO has also decided to celebrate the event with this set here in the US. As for the purchase price of $88, the number 88 symbolizes fortune and good luck in Chinese culture. I am very looking forward to the LEGO Year of the Dog set as I am born on this zodiac animal and don’t have to resort to the secondary market to get a copy of it.

LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235) Set Revealed

<LEGO Seasonal Year of the Dog (40235)

As a yearly tradition in Asian countries, LEGO releases a set to celebrate the Lunar New Year or Chinese New Year. On February 16, the calendar rolls over to the new year and it’ll be the Year of the Dog in which there will be a set (40235) based on it.

As someone who was born on the Year of the Dog on the Chinese zodiac, I’ll definitely be wanting to pick up this set. If anyone wants to help me out in getting this set, let me know.
