Very happy Lobster loving batman is included. I don’t know a lot of these villains but i’d rather have new oddball villians as opposed to variations of ones I already have. Not sure what’s up with the pink tutu Batman, but my assumption is it’s explained in the movie.
At least if I’m now going to have over 40 (or is it 50?) different Batmans, at least Lego has taken it to the truly absurd levels (where it’s bordered on for a number of years).
I have to say, the inclusion of the crazy extra Batmen in this series make me more likely to buy the sets with other variant Batmen, which I’ve avoided because I don’t care about Batman variants (apart from Miller-armor Batman from BvS).
One note: When you count your Batmen, don’t count Catman. He’s an actual character and that costume is actually comics accurate. I assume he’s in the film as some kind of joke about getting confused for Batman, or because we find out he got his costume from Bats a la Reggae Batman-Robin.
I have all my theme minifigures in freezer bags and I have a separate freezer bag just for Batmans. At first it was annoying to have so many batmans (especially before we got our first Green Lantern), but now it’s so ridiculous it’s funny.
There’s currently just over 20 stock Batsuits available with the Batcave set being quasi-available. I make lots of custom batsuits, though, so I’ve actually just passed the 40 mark, and with the infusion of this many LBM characters I could actually pass 200 total unique Bat-related minifigs by the end of 2017.
Soooooooooooo very NOT interested in this series. But I think I’d like an Eraser just because and I really really want the ducky inflatable, Commissioner Gordon’s hair piece and the lobster. Hope they turn up in Make-A-Mini one day.
Good god. This might be the first CMF series I just throw down for a box of- I will need multiples of all of these.
Don’t get me wrong, I’m really excited about these. This will be the first time since S10 CMF that I’ll actually buy a sealed case, and the first time since S11 that I plan on keeping a complete set for display. I’m still more excited about that giant Clayface than I am about all of the other LBM releases combined.
Even so, one thing I definitely plan to do next year is, at least once, I want to have Batman facing down the entire lineup of villains on one of our displays. I’ll probably have to do it twice, with just the villains that are going to be available in the first wave of sets the first time, and every villain they make available with the second wave added in the next time.
Also, one complaint/question I’ve been seeing on other sites is about the Arkham Asylum Joker, who looks very similar to the Joker from Arkham Asylum (the set, not the building). I expect the torso print will be slightly different (no CMF has ever reused an old torso, head, or leg print, though those same prints have sometimes been reused elsewhere at a later date), but the head is definitely a unique print even considering that there are two distinct Joker heads that will be available in the regular retails sets. Most importantly, this locks down the price that the male Arkham inmate minifig bodies can sell for. If they price too high, you can just buy CMF Arkham Jokers and swap the hands and heads. Ever since the 2012 Arkham Asylum set came out, I’ve been wanting to build up a large group of inmate bodies so I could make Arkham inmate versions of all the major Batman rogues, but the minifigs have never dropped below $10 each and I always had more important uses for my money. Now I can just buy a bunch of the CMF version, pick up a handful of the female inmate bodies (Harley’s really the only female A-list bat-villain who’s not wearing one in the actual LBM Arkham set), and start adding heads and hands as I please.
it’s probably just the head on the arkham joker that’s different. like the bad cop/ scribble face cop from the lego movie cmf series… (although that one didn’t have printing on its back, and the ones in the sets did…)
You might be right about the eyes (hope beyond hope that the stickers are clear, not the white ones that flake off after a few years), but you’re missing the obvious solution. Buy more Clayfaces! Build the core of any appendages out of reddish-brown and clad them in parts from this set. Or see if it’s possible to rebuild this thing in reddish-brown.
baaaah, I never use stickers. I was planning on using yellow studs for the eyes, then build around those with spare parts in the same brownish color. got a bunch of small parts in that color from friends sets.
I was thinking about this recently, and while I can’t say for sure that they aren’t stickers, it would break with modern tradition if they were. See, when the Legend Beast sets came out for Chima, someone noted that there’s a logical reason for why some LB parts had painted deco and others used stickers, all in such a small set. It all boils down to parents and their availability. Hand a set off to a kid, and the really young ones might wait for a parent to apply the stickers so they don’t look like a steaming pile. Some deco is critical for play, and other deco is just flavor. In the Legend Beast sets, all of the faces and eyes were printed, while all of the limbs and bodies used stickers or nothing at all. Faces are kind of important for play, but body deco is just tweaking the design.
So, in this case, the eyes are a fairly big deal (especially on this model), and it would make sense if they stuck with that pattern and used painted deco instead of stickers. Other than the eyes and the minifigs, I don’t see any other decorated elements, so it’s possible there won’t be a sticker sheet in this set at all. Not a guarantee, but possible. And very hopeful. I really like the look of those eyes, and the two parts that would make brick-built eyes really simple don’t exist in that color. It might be easier to just build the entire thing in reddish-brown (totally possible, BTW, if you tweak the build for the mouth and “hands”). I’m probably going to make a duplicate in reddish-brown anyways, just so I have more options during displays. I’m not sure about the hammer hand or the splat, but I’ve got ideas for other hands and hand-weapons, and the splat is a simple enough design that it doesn’t need to be made of that exact mix of parts to work.
aaaaaaaaaaaaw, snap… clayface has printed eyes.

just saw a review of it on some german site.
I think the reason they looked like stickers is the way the seam between the slopes and the plates under them looked in the low-res photos. When I make a reddish-brown version, I’ll just have to make brick-built eyes, but I’m really glad the eyes are printed because chances are they’d use the crappy white paper stickers instead of the clear ones, and they’d just flake off after a year or two.
Looks Awesome! I am just a bit disappointed in not seeing a few more
alternate Batman suits such as the St. Batricks, El Mariachi (maybe a
bit “culturally insensitive”?), Batman Beyond?!?, and quite a few others
as noted in the movie trailer breakdown. And why aren’t there any other
heroes like that different suit Green Arrow included? I certainly hope
they show up in future sets and/or maybe polybags.
I don’t remember any “El Mariachi”, but there was one called “El Murcielago”, which is Spanish for “The Bat” (incidentally, Bruce was driving an Lamborghini Murcielago when he got pulled over in The Dark Knight).
It would have been nice if at least a couple of LBM sets had Batman in an alternate costume, since he appears in ten of the twelve sets we’ve seen images for (counting the grainy shot of one of the polybags). As for heroes, the CMF line does have Catman. That’s a first appearance minifig, even if Pink Power Batgirl isn’t.
they actually have bootlegs of the irish, mariachi, and uncle sam suits on ebay for like $1 each.
I’m looking at that classic red hood, good way to recreate the Joker’s creation.
it’s supposed to have the other red hood mask under the dome, based off another picture. http://imgur.com/bYE6tvy
man… they better have moved clock king from the preliminary image of the list to a boxed set, like they did with a few others on that list… I was really looking forward to him… http://imgur.com/d8lM44j looked like the head would be a clock printed on a gingerbread man head, but maybe it would be a whole new piece…
not to mention the chef joker and legionnaire batman…
bane is supposed to be in the later set that comes with the mutant leader. but I also thought I heard about him coming in a penguin limo set… maybe he’s in both, as normal/big figs? they would need a new small sized one to match the look of the big one.
I did recently hear some grumbling about a set with Bane and the Mutant Leader, but I can confirm the other bit is false. A bootleg photo of The Penguin Arctic Roller is floating around the internet, and all it comes with is Penguin (different head than the Batcave) and a standard Batman (same head as the Batmobile and Batcave). Not even any of those demon-eyed hench-penguins.
lame. gotta get more demon eye penguins…
also, BOOOOOOO… just found that picture of the arctic roller… very lacking… it really seems like it should have more… the croc one has 2 extra villains, the riddler one has 3 extra villains… what a waste to not even put henchmen in that penguin one. hopefully it’ll at least come with an open version of that new umbrella piece. (doubt it though)
(gonna have to replace the grill missiles with a normal grill, but I do like how they used the hot air balloon segments as a decoration over the front tires.)
I really hope the scarecrow’s flying vehicle ends up being a legit dirigible and not just some plane or helicopter… they have all those police patrol blimps in gotham, it’d be nice to have some kinda new one since the last one I can remember was that big 3 piece one from the amazon adventurers series years ago.
aaaaaaaaaah balls. http://imgur.com/a/l2c6D it’s… I really hope that dinky thing isn’t it… guess I should just get to work on my own dirigible…
Tail-gator only has two villains. Croc and Zebra Man. Tarantula (the woman) is a hero.
Adventurers had a two-piece container that doubled as a dirigible gas bladder, but the tail-cap fit just loose enough on the big part that the tailfins are always cockeyed. Ninjago just had one made out of the same balloon panels used for the pontoon fenders, but laying on their side so the bottom end of the hot-air balloon ended up pointing aft. The panels are all brown, which would be appropriate for Scarecrow, and the size is similar so it might be possible to replace the copter bits with the Ninjago balloon.
also http://imgur.com/a/uoz0n neato, new better images of some figures…
i’m pretty sure the new croc’s head can move like a lego horse head, so it can be pointed up… which is awesome… swimming pose, tripped pose, standing under someone falling with mouth open pose, receiving an uppercut pose… if it ends up actually being hinged, it’ll be pretty cool.
Croc’s head uses the old dragon/alligator upper jaw (it’s more obvious in the set photo), so while the entire head may not be posable, you can certainly open the mouth…maybe have him gnawing on someone…
idk mang… sure looks like the whole head can move up n down… http://imgur.com/a/ukrmT
aw yeah. just saw a review of that croc set. the head does move, but not as high as I had hoped. but it’s something at least.
