The LEGO Batman Movie New Trailer Coming Tomorrow

If you didn’t see the announcement yet, LEGO and Warner Bros. will be releasing a brand new trailer for The LEGO Batman Movie sometime tomorrow. Originally it was rumored that the trailer would drop today but it was retracted and pushed back one day. Hopefully the trailer will show off more of the villains of the movie since there should be a plethora of them.

Speaking of The LEGO Batman Movie, there’s a list over on Eurobricks and on Brickset of more sets that we should be getting. Note that the set names are just placeholders with some of the villains. I’ll mark the ones that we know are confirmed from the SDCC and NYCC reveals. Keep in mind that nothing is confirmed but CM4sci stated that 90% of the list is correct so there’s that.

SQUEEEEE! Clayface gets a set! Also, it looks like there’s almost ten villains who get first-time minifigs in this theme.

Same!! I can’t believe we are getting some of these second rate villians like the Kabuki Twins, Kiteman, and Magpie.

The last time they had a Batman-exclusive theme, it took them three years to make their first Harley Quinn minifig. Batman was literally the only character who got multiple outfits, and he only got four over three years. Bane and Killer Croc were about the most obscure villains they ever made.

Now, as of January, Harley Quinn will have averaged one minifig per year since DC Superheroes hit retail. Batman has dozens of outfits, Robin has hit double digits, the number of Batman villains with at least two minifigs has hit double digits, and we got freakin’ Killer Moth.

There are 13 sets on that list, and in the last decade they have learned and embraced the idea that minifigs sell sets, so honestly I’m surprised we aren’t getting more first-time villains.

Still, the top of my wanted list for this movie was that brick-built Clayface that popped up in the background of an early group shot. With the release of the last wave of 2016 sets, my list of most wanted characters had pretty much been whittled down to Clayface and Mad Hatter. I made a decent Mad Hatter a while ago (though I think I need to update him), but I’ve played around with Clayface ideas a lot more than pretty much any other villain. The simplest option was the old Rock Raiders monster. The first design I came up with (based on B:TAS) I called Bleyface, because I could only make the design work in either black or dark-bley. I’ve since been able to remake that version in reddish-brown, but I still keep thinking about alternate attack arms. So, seeing that giant brick-built Clayface peeking out, teasingly not showing the full design, all I cared about seeing revealed was a set based on that build. Given that the set is simply called “Clayface”, I can’t see it being anything but that.
