Throughout its history, LEGO has evolved from a wooden toy company to the largest toy company in the world. If you haven’t seen the video yet, it’s basically a condensed version of its long history. The LEGO Group Appoints Niels B. Christiansen as New CEO

Earlier today, The LEGO Group has announced that the Board of Directors has appointed Niels B. Christiansen as the new CEO of the company. Christiansen replaces Bali Padda who took over at the beginning of the year. Read the full press release below.

The LEGO Group today announced that its Board of Directors has appointed Niels B. Christiansen, 51, as CEO of the LEGO Group effective October 1, 2017.

Christiansen was most recently CEO of global industrial technology company, Danfoss, a position he held for nine years until end of June 2017. Christiansen replaces Bali Padda, 61, a long-standing LEGO Group executive, who will assume a special advisory role with LEGO Brand Group.

Jørgen Vig Knudstorp, Executive Chairman of LEGO Brand Group said, ‘Niels is a great leader who delivered outstanding results while CEO of Danfoss. There, he transformed a traditional industrial company into a technology leader. His experience in digitalisation and globalisation, implementing a transformative strategy, and creating an agile, high performing, international team will benefit the LEGO Group. The Board is confident that under Niels, the LEGO Group will continue to flourish and bring play experiences to more children around the world.’ Knudstorp said the transition to a new CEO occurred more rapidly than the Board had anticipated.

“Bali has been part of the LEGO Group family for the past 15 years. He played an integral role in the turnaround of the LEGO Group and during his time as CEO created a solid foundation from which to continue to transform the company. He is

Major LEGO Mistake in It Trailer

Here’s a little Sunday funday kind of post to start off the week. The new trailer for the remake of the classic film It dropped recently and there’s something LEGO related in it that may trigger fans. Eagle-eyed fan Nathan Wells found a mistake that made even producer Seth Grahame-Smith say they’re cancelling the release until further notice.

In the trailer, a LEGO model made of lime-green parts was dropped and if you look at it closely, there’s a 2×2 lime-green roof tile that can be seen. Unfortunately, the movie takes place in 1989 while the part wasn’t released until 2010. Obviously, this is an oversight of major proportions and we demand that director Andrés Muschietti reshoot the scene with correct LEGO parts used!

Clearly, I’m joking but it’s really it’s neat to see that there are fans with vast knowledge of LEGO even in a minute scale. As LEGO gets bigger and bigger, it’s also cool to see that more LEGO has been implemented into recent movies and TV shows with the latest one being the Death Star in Spider-Man: Homecoming and I hope to see more in the future.

Take a Trip Down Memory Lane in the LEGO Archive Vault

A few weeks ago, Josh Hanlon from Beyond the Brick was able to attend LEGO Fan Media Days and he has given LEGO fans a look at something that most of us probably won’t be able to see in real life, the LEGO Archive Vault, aka Memory Lane. It is located under the LEGO Idea House and it contains almost every single LEGO set that has been produced. Attendees of the LEGO Inside Tour are also able to check it out.

LEGO designers and other employees also go down to the Vault to do research or reminisce about their childhood. Since LEGO adds to the Vault every year, that means that they are running out of room and will soon have to move it to another location. You’ll notice that in the beginning of the film, Josh notes that there are already upcoming sets that haven’t been released yet that are already on the shelves which is blocked off.

If you have half a hour to spare, I highly recommend you taking a look at the video as there are lots of cool stuff that were shown off. Did you see sets that you have/had that were from your childhood?
