LEGO Creator Assembly Square (10255) Modular Officially Announced

To celebrate the 10th anniversary of the LEGO Creator Modular Building line, LEGO has officially announced the newest direct-to-consumer set with the Assembly Square (10255). It consists of a whopping 4,002 pieces and will retail for $279.99. There will be no early access for the Assembly Square so it will be available for everyone starting on January 1, 2017.

As an anniversary set, designer Jamie Berard has take past references from previous eleven modular buildings and have implemented into the Assembly Square.

LEGO 2017 Modular Building Rumors

LEGO will be celebrating its 10th anniversary of the LEGO Creator Modular Buildings in 2017 there’s already rumors of what the next set could be. There’s no concrete details of it yet but word is that it is called the Assembly Square (10255) and will be available in January 2017 at 2,699 DKK which is about $300 if you take a set to compare it to.

Brickcon is this weekend and the convention has been known to announce some exclusive direct-to-consumer sets such as the Parisian Restaurant (10243) back in 2013 and the Santa’s Workshop (10245) in 2014. Who knows if LEGO will be announcing something this year at Brickcon but we can only hope.

LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254) Review

Last month, LEGO officially announced the next set in the Winter Village theme with the LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254). LEGO released another Holiday Train (10173) back in 2006 but this is a completely new train unlike what happened last year with the winter set. If you remember, LEGO released the Winter Toy Shop (10249) and a lot of people weren’t happy with that since it was just a rehash of the previous toy shop with slight updates. For the Winter Holiday Train, it is slightly different than the previous one and not a total copy. It comes in at 734 pieces and retails for $99.99. The contents of the box include one un-numbered bag, six numbered bags, 16 loose track pieces, and the two instruction booklets that are neatly sealed.

One thing to note is that I do not own 10173 so I have no basis for comparison and will just be reviewing this new set.

LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254) and Star Wars Death Star (75159) Now Available for VIPs

The holiday season is slowly creeping up and to kick it off, the LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254) is now available for VIP members on Shop@Home and at LEGO Brand Stores. The set contains 734 pieces and retails for $99.99.

Unlike last year when LEGO released the Winter Toy Shop (10249), a lot of people were upset that it was basically just a re-release of a previous set however, the Winter Holiday Train is not a copy of the 10173 set from 2006. This set also has 16 curved train tracks included so you can create a whole circle. You can also motorize the train with Power Functions but they are not included with the set.

The other set is that available for VIPs today is the LEGO Star Wars Death Star (75159). This version of the Death Star has similar features to the previous 10188 version but has slight updates and a couple of new minifigures. Although a lot of Star Wars fans may not like it because it’s pretty much a rehash of the old one, it is geared towards fans who have just started collecting LEGO Star Wars and missed out on the previous version which was recently retired. The Death Star (75159) will have 4,016 pieces and retail for $499.99.

One thing to note is that there aren’t any worthwhile promotions going on at this month so if you can hold off until October, you can get Double VIP points plus the Holiday Countdown Calendar (40222) with the … Continue

LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254) Officially Announced

LEGO has officially announced the next direct-to-consumer set with the LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254). The newest Winter Village themed set for 2016 contains 734 pieces and retails for $99.99. If you’re a VIP member, you can pick up the exclusive Winter Holiday Train starting on September 15 as stated on the September 2016 Store Calendar.

This year marks nine years since the last Holiday Train (10173) and the new one is not a re-release of the previous set unlike what happened with last year’s Winter Toy Shop (10249). One feature that the train has is the Power Functions (not included) which allows you to control it remotely which is a feature that many people wanted. In addition, you also get 16 curved train pieces to create a complete circle.

Again the LEGO Creator Winter Holiday Train (10254) will be available starting on September 15 for VIPs and to the general public on October 1. Check out the press release and more images below.

LEGO Creator London Bus (40220) Review

From now until August 15 at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home, LEGO is giving out the LEGO Creator London Bus (40220) with purchases of $75 or more as part of their main promotion for the month in the US and Canada. The contents of the box include two unnumbered bags, a 2×12 black plate, the instruction booklet, and a sticker sheet.

The 118-piece build is simple as you pretty much stack bricks and plates up. As the bus is a double-decker, both levels are similar with slight differences. The lower level has a lot of windows which uses the 1×2 trans-clear bricks. Not immediately shown on the front is the fairly new 1×2/2×4 angle plate used to attach the black grill pieces and 1×1 trans-clear studs for the headlights. The back left of the bus has an opening for bus entrance and a 1×1 tile for the step. At the very back, there are some 1×1 trans-clear studs for the tail lights. To finish off the lower level, there’s a 1×2 white tile with a sticker for the license plate.

For the upper level of the London Bus, there are more of the 1×2 trans-clear bricks along with some 1×1 trans-clear bricks for the windows. The main feature here are some of the large bus advertisement stickers for the set. LEGO Creator Volkswagen Beetle (10252) Review

The LEGO Creator Volkswagen Beetle (10252) was officially announced last month and is now available for purchase for VIP memebers at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home. LEGO has graciously sent a copy of the set for us to review. The set contains 1,167 pieces and retails for $99.99. The Volkswagen Beetle follows along the same scale of some of the other LEGO Creator sets that have been released in the past like the Volkswagen T1 Camper Van (10220) and the Mini Cooper (10242). The contents of the box include eight numbered bags, the instruction booklet, a sticker sheet, and four loose tires.
