LEGO Star Wars Millennium Falcon (75105) Wins 2016 Toy of the Year Award

The 2016 New York Toy Fair is over and done and after that, there were also the Toy of the Year awards given out to the best toys from last year. Not surprisingly, LEGO was again in the running for some awards including winning the “Boy Toy of the Year” for the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Millennium Falcon (75105) which was the best toy developed specifically for boys of any age. If you haven’t checked out my in-depth review of it, you can read it here.

LEGO was also nominated for “Game of the Year” with LEGO Dimensions but lost out to the popular party Pie Face Game. Note that LEGO Dimensions was the only non-tradional tabletop game in the category.

Finally, Star Wars won “Property of the Year” for the licensor with the greatest success spreading its brand or property throughout the industry while generating interest and excitement. Obviously LEGO had some impact with the brand winning with all of the various LEGO Star Wars sets we got last year, especially with The Force Awakens sets.

LEGO had been in the running for various Toy of the Year awards in every year since the awards have been given out in 2000 and I won’t be surprised if they make the list again next year.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Video Game Side Mission Details

Last week, Warner Bros. Home Entertainment released details of the new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Video Game. We already know that the main game will be based on the blockbuster hit but there is even more gameplay to it.

Today Game Informer has released details of some of the side missions and events that will be in the game which lets players explore backstories of some of the characters. There are six full optional missions that are unlocked when you collect enough gold bricks.

One of these missions include how C-3PO got this red arm. This part of the story hasn’t been released yet but will be explained in an one-shot Marvel comic in March but we also get to play through it later this year. Another mission that was teased is the events of how the Rathars were captured aboard Han Solo and Chewbacca’s Eravana freighter.

Again, the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Video Game will be available on June 28 on a variety of systems. There is also the Deluxe Edition available for Playstation 4 and XBox One which includes the exclusive 30605 Finn (FN-2187) minifigure polybag as well as the Season Pass for the game.

LEGO Star Wars: Episode 7 Video Game Confirmed?

Back in October, there was an image of a LEGO Star Wars Finn (30605) polybag that showed up online. Many people noticed that there was a code on the bottom left corner of the packaging which may suggest that it’ll be included with a video game as they usually are.

It looks like Twitter user Shinobi602 has found an Amazon Italy listing of a LEGO Star Wars: Episode 7 video game for the PlayStation 4. It also lists the release date is May 31, 2016 which could just be a placeholder and the listing mentions that some of the playable characters include Rey, Finn, Poe, BB-8, Kylo Ren, and Han Solo.

Shinobi602 also mention there will be a Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment announcement tomorrow for the game as well so we’ll see if WB sends over a press release in the morning.

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Cyberman Fun Pack (71238) Review

LEGO Dimensions Doctor Who Cyberman Fun Pack (71238)

Continuing with another review of the LEGO Dimensions wave 3 sets that were recently released, I have in hand the Doctor Who Cyberman Fun Pack (71238). This expansion pack consists of 40 pieces and retails for $14.99. The box consists of two un-numbered bags and the minifigure instructions.

Minifigure

There is only one legit minifigure in this Fun Pack and that is the Cyberman which is based off the 2013 design. The torso has lots of gray and dark gray printing on both sides and also continues down to the legs while the whole minifigure itself is of a pearl silver color. The head is a new mold with the handles on top of the head and the tear drop printing for the eyes.

In-game, the Cyberman has many abilities including swimming, mind control, hacking, drone, x-ray vision, and silver blowup so it’s a pretty versatile character to use.

Build

The building part of the set is the Dalek. There are three different builds for the Dalek which include the regular version, the Fire ‘n Ride Dalek, and the Silver Shooter Dalek. Again, LEGO doesn’t provide the instructions in the box to build it but you can find them online.

For the regular Dalek, it has the distinct shape of the cyborg. For the top portion, there is a printed dome piece with a trans-blue eyestalk. In the midsection, you have a telescope piece representing the gunstick and an antenna for the manipulator arm. Finally for the bottom part, you have the skirt structure … Continue
