Ghostbusters Peter Venkman Minifigure Confirmed for LEGO Dimensions

A few weeks ago, I reported that there were some new licenses that were announced for LEGO Dimensions including Ghostbusters and Midway Arcades. At E3, it’s been confirmed that we’ll be getting a Ghostbusters Peter Venkman minifigure with a new hair pieces as well as some arm printing with the No Ghost patch. If you have the LEGO Ideas Ghostbusters Ecto-1 (21108), you would know that the minifigures in that set do not have any arm printing so it’s nice to see that the LEGO Dimensions version will have some. We’ll see in the near future if the other Ghostbusters members will also be included in Dimensions as well as the rumored Slimer minifigure.

Also check out IGN’s interview with Jon Katz from WB Interactive Entertainment and Mark Warburton from TT Games to see Peter in action in LEGO Dimensions.

LEGO Dimensions Star Wars Theme Not Happening Ever (No Surprise)

Earlier today, Disney vice president of of production John Vignocchi did an interview with IGN at E3 and he was asked if Star Wars was ever going to be in LEGO Dimensions and not surprisingly, the answer was an adamant no.

Don’t count on it.

Since Star Wars was announced to be released on Infinity 3.0 yesterday, it was pretty much guaranteed that the theme would not be coming to LEGO Dimensions. Vignocchi notes that “introducing Star Wars to LEGO Dimensions would cannibalize the Disney Infinity business. Good for everyone except Disney Infinity.” I pretty much said the same thing in April when I was speculating on possible LEGO Dimensions themes. Vignocchi also stated that the licensees of Infinity don’t want to mix franchises which is pretty much what LEGO Dimensions is doing.

With the exclusion of Star Wars as a theme for LEGO Dimensions, I really don’t see fans being that disappointed because Dimensions is already filled with many different characters from a lot of themes including some new ones like Portal 2, Wizard of Oz, and Doctor Who.

There have been readers who have asked the same question about Marvel being in LEGO Dimensions and the answer will probably be the same as Star Wars since Disney owns them as well.

The interview was pretty short but we did get to see some different gameplay footage from the end of the first Avengers movie. The game will begin at the beginning of Avengers: Age of Ultron where they are searching for Loki’s staff. It then segues into the scene in the first Avengers movie where Loki is given the staff. There’s also more content after the Avengers movies including an open-world New York.

There’s also a new team-up combat system called the “Avengers Inititive Moves” where you have certain Avengers team up in various ways for example Hulk interacts with Iron Man or Black Widow with Hawkeye. Every single character will also have a power bar that you can charge up to unleash solo combat special moves or team combo moves. The special moves will take a third off from the fully-powered bar.

The fighting style and costumes for each character is different from movie to movie. All the characters will have new moves and abiliteis. For example, Captain America’s moves from the first Avengers movie will differ from his moves in Avengers: Age of Ultron.

Like with the recent LEGO Jurassic World video game, LEGO Marvel’s Avengers will also incorporate actual movie dialog into the game. Arthur also slyly mentions that some of the new MCU characters like Quicksilver will be in … Continue

LEGO Dimensions E3 Portal Trailer Featuring the Toy Pad

LEGO Dimensions Modes

Following the gameplay footage of LEGO Dimensions yesterday at E3, Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released another video today showing off the details of the Toy Pad and how it works in conjunction with the game. The Toy Pad allows a combination of seven different characters, objects, and vehicles to be simultaneously be brought into the game at a single time. It features three distinct areas of RGB light technology that gives a range of colors to provide the players hints and puzzles to solve.

There are five modes available on the Toy Pad: SHIFT, SCALE, CHROMA, ELEMENTAL, and LOCATE. SHIFT mode is activated when characters need to use colored vortexes to move around the area or to avoid danger. The player must physically move the LEGO minifigure to the right colored light section on the Toy Pad which allows them to transport the character to the vortex of their choosing.

LEGO Dimensions Shift Mode

By using SCALE, players can physically place the LEGO minifigure on a distinct colored section of the Toy Pad and they can either grow their character to a larger size or shrink them down to micro-size to be able to compleze puzzles or access new areas.

LEGO Dimensions Scale Mode

With CHROMA, you change each character into a specific color and you use them at certain points with their respective colors to progress in the puzzle.

For ELEMENTAL, the characters can gain different elemental abilities to use including lightning, fire, water, and wind. You can use those abilities to fight enemies or to use on puzzles.

Finally, LOCATE is … Continue
