LEGO CUUSOO Macross VF-1 Valkyrie Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Macross VF-1 Valkyrie +Fast pack / Armored parts by maxvf1 is the latest project to reach 10,000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. The VF-1 Valkyrie is based on the variable fighter from the Japanese anime, The Super Dimension Fortress Macross. First submitted on October 1, 2011, it shows that slow and steady can also win the race and in this case, the race to 10,000 supporters. The Valkyrie becomes the very first “transforming” set to reach the review stage on CUUSOO and as well as the first set to qualify for the Winter Review stage. Since LEGO encourages creativity and imagination, it would be cool to see something like the Valkyrie with it’s transforming feature become an official set but we’ll see if LEGO can get a licensing deal done with Harmony Gold which has a pretty strict licensing policy.

Congratulations to maxvf1 for getting enough supporters for his Macross project! The Japanese Old Style Architecture project by taxon55 becomes the highest supported project on CUUSOO.

Congratulations on 10,000 supporters, maxvf1!

You did it! What a fantastic build and a great way to celebrate an iconic robot from Japanese animation in LEGO Bricks. As you say, combining construction play with the Valkyrie adds a new level of understanding of how to build transforming models.

What happens now?
This project moves from the Idea stage to the Review stage. A “LEGO Review Board” composed of designers, product managers, and other key team members will examine the idea. We’ll build concept models and determine if the concept

LEGO CUUSOO Jurassic Park Project by Senteosan Shelved

If you’re a LEGO creator and want to list any Jurassic Park projects on LEGO CUUSOO, don’t bother. Yesterday, Senteosan’s Jurassic Park project was archived after only 6,495 supporters and will not be considered for production. The reason? LEGO posted, “since another company has the construction toy license for this IP, we can’t pursue this further as a potential LEGO set.” Back in February of this year, Hasbro, which owns KRE-O, struck a licensing deal with Universal to produce merchandise for the movie franchise. Because of this deal, any Jurassic Park related projects/sets cannot be created by The LEGO Group and in turn anything that bears the JP mark on CUUSOO will be archived. However, Senteosan does have a separate project for his UCS-style Dinosaur series, Bricksauria and that isn’t Jurassic Park related so it’s still live. If you like the design of the Tyrannosaurus Rex, head over to Senteosan’s page and show your support.

Does this decision discourage creators to propose projects that are other companies’ IPs? No it doesn’t but just bear in mind that LEGO has the right to close down a project if it conflicts with a competitive building brick licensor, aka KRE-O/Mega Bloks. LEGO CUUSOO encourages people submit original ideas so there’s less of a chance that your project will conflict with another company’s license. Below is the official LEGO comment on their decision to close Senteosan’s project.

First and foremost, congratulations on the well over 5,000 supporters for this project on

LEGO CUUSOO The Road to Oz Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The latest project to reach 10,000 supporter and the first project to reach the 2013 Fall Review stage is The Road to Oz by JeremiahKC. The project posted on July 15th and has quickly climbed up the ranks of supported projects, especially with the help of 1.8 million fans of The Wizard of Oz Facebook page. The project is the seventh project to hit 10,000 supporters in the quarter and now joins the Female Minifigure Set, the ATLAS Mini Model, FTL: Faster Than Light, the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project, and Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair, TeeKay’s Ghostbusters for the Fall Review. The LEGO Jury will have a pretty hard time choosing the winner for this review stage with so many great projects hitting the goal. Maybe LEGO will set new a precedent of choosing multiple winners during the review stage? We shall see about that in a few months.

The Road to Oz features three vignettes from the 1939 movie. The first shows Dorothy meeting Scarecrow and Tinman for the first time. The second features Dorothy, Scarecrow, and Tinman running into the Wicked Witch of the West as well as meeting the Cowardly Lion. The last vignette shows everyone arriving at the Emerald City at the poppy fields. All three sections are able to attach to each other to create one long yellow brick road or side by side to create a wider road. This project also commemorates the 75th anniversary of the original The Wizard of Oz movie. JeremiahKC’s project … Continue

LEGO CUUSOO Back to the Future – Marty’s Truck

Team BTTF is back with another project for LEGO CUUSOO and this time it is the Back to the Future – Marty’s Truck. The project features the black 1985 Toyota Hilux that was first seen at Statler Toyota and later in Marty’s garage after the events of the first movie. The truck is 6 studs wide and is able to fit two minifigures: Marty McFly and Jennifer Parker. Marty has a Shah Safari white checkered shirt over a red t-shirt with suspenders and blue jeans. Jennifer wears a blue vest over a white shirt and has the pink flower pants. The build and minifigures were created by Sakuretu as usual. If you like what you see, head over to the project page on CUUSOO and give your support.

LEGO CUUSOO Ghostbusters Achieve 10000 Supporters

The Ghostbusters project by TeeKay has become the second project based on the film this month to reach 10000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. The project also becomes the 6th project to qualify for the 2013 Fall Review phase and joins the Female Minifigure Set, the ATLAS Mini Model, FTL: Faster Than Light, the Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project, and Poptropica: Dr. Hare’s Lair for the Fall review.

TeeKay’s version of the project features Ecto-1 and the four Ghostbusters with accessories. Ghostbusters was started on January 12, 2012 and had been going steady but has been recently climbing up the ranks of supported projects on CUUSOO. This will also mark the first time that two projects with similar concept ideas will face off during the review stage joining Brent Waller’s Ghostbusters 30th Anniversary project. Both creators were respectful of each other’s projects and have even talked about combining the projects and splitting the royalties. LEGO CUUSOO Community Manager Tim Courtney also has chimed in:

This is a first for us – two very similar concepts based on an IP in one review batch. While we don’t know what the outcome will be in the review, we’re all really happy to see both of you showing such a collaborative and cooperative spirit throughout the process. You should be proud of your exemplary leadership in this creative community. Now, good luck on the home stretch, TeeKay!

There’s still a few more days before the Fall Review deadline and the Macross VF-1 Valkyrie also has a chance to … Continue

Turmoil and Drama on LEGO CUUSOO

As you may have read last week, I did a couple of posts here to help spread the news about BrickQueen’s Jurassic Park projects on LEGO CUUSOO, the Jungle Explorer T-Rex Encounter and the Triceratops Encounter. Besides the Jurassic Park projects, she also had a couple of Super Heroes sets that were doing pretty good as well such as her Killer Croc’s Lair project which was about to hit 5,000 supporters. Well I have some sad news to report. It appears that her account has been banned/suspended and all the projects were deleted and it wasn’t something she has done wrong. She has released a video (below) explaining what happened. It was stated in the video that another user recently posted another Jurassic Park project and has been flagging BrickQueen’s projects and also rallying his “supporters” to flag her projects as well.

We’ve had many projects that had the similar concepts and ideas going on simultaneously on CUUSOO before but we’ve never seen this happen. The video also goes on to explain that she has gotten personal messages from various individuals saying terrible things and it absolutely sickens me that people would go that far to ruin someone else’s hopes and dreams. You can hear the pain in her voice as she tries to explain the situation. The pain of something that you worked very hard on and it going down the drain by forces not of your control. We are all LEGO fans here, are we not? We’re here to support the creators and … Continue

LEGO CUUSOO Jurassic Park: Triceratops Encounter

The BrickQueen is back with another Jurassic Park project on LEGO CUUSOO. If you remember from yesterday, I did a post on her other JP project, the Jungle Explorer T-Rex Encounter which is quickly gaining supporters. Today, she has posted the Jurassic Park: Triceratops Encounter.

The set features the triceratops, a jeep, and the Dr. Alan Grant and Dr. Ellie Sattler minifigures. The triceratops in the project represents the dinosaur that got sick when it accidentally ate the poisonous West Indian Lilac berries.

The jeep is a replica of of JP 14 Jeep Wrangler Sahara. It is a gas-powered jeep that Dr. Gerry Harding uses to drive Ellie back to the visitor’s center. The jeep features a winch cable and a spare tire on a opening door and seats four minifigures.

If you like Jurassic Park, there’s no reason not to like this project as well.
