LEGO has released the designer video for the new LEGO DC Universe Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout (10937) on their Facebook page. As noted, there are references to the old Arkham Asylum (7785) set as well as from the comics and the TV series in the updated version. The set is to be released in January 2013 for $159.99.

Back at San Diego Comic Con 2012, LEGO displayed some minifigures of next year’s LEGO Super Heroes sets. Today, LEGO revealed the one of the first sets that will be coming out in January 2013, the LEGO DC Universe Batman: Arkham Asylum Breakout (10937). At 1351 pieces, this will be the biggest LEGO Super Heroes set so far. Most of the main villains will be included, minus Mr. Freeze and Bane, which is pretty sweet considering they get locked up at Arkham all the time. Below is the official press release:

LEGO 2013 Set List

Brickset has found a list on a German toy shop called Wurst of LEGO sets that will be coming out in 2013. It looks like it’s going to be a pretty expensive 2013 so far.

LEGO Ninjago – Back in June, LEGO Community Coordinator Kevin Hinkle reported that LEGO Ninjago will be discontinued in 2013. The sets listed below might be some the last sets that you can buy from this popular theme. We’re not sure if there will be any more Ninjago sets after these.

LEGO Legends of Chima – In June, LEGO registered a couple of trademarks called LEGO Legends of Chima and Speedorz. This news set the LEGO community into a frenzy. This theme has been rumored to be the one to replace the discontinuing LEGO Ninjago theme in 2013. There have been pictures floating around the web of what Legends of Chima look like:

a series called Chima (imagine Animal heads like Cats, Lions, alligators, Eagles, Dogs, but with cool scars and minifig bodies, and they have Ripcords instead of Spinners.

Warner Bros., The Dark Knight Rises, and LEGO

Warner Bros. has posted a press release of licensing and merchandising program for the The Dark Knight Rises which opens in theaters this weekend. There’s one part that was interesting about it.

Led by global master toy licensee Mattel, the film will also be supported by key partners such as The LEGO Group, Hallmark, Kinetix, Converse, Rubie’s Costume Company, and Titan Books, among many other licensees worldwide…The much-anticipated film is also being supported by the official partner in the construction category, LEGO, with a construction set inspired by The Dark Knight Rises;

So does this mean there will be a LEGO The Dark Knight set? Maybe. There were images of Batman, Bane, and Commissioner Gordon at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con but we were told that those minifigures were for the 2013 Super Heroes sets. If there are some new, unexpected LEGO Dark Knight Rises set(s), then that’s some awesome news. Maybe Warner Bros. and LEGO already had a plan to release a set to coincide with the movie release.
