Final Day for LEGO Shop Double VIP Points

April 15, 2014 / Allen "Tormentalous" Tran

Just a friendly reminder, today is the last day for Double VIP Points for your purchases from LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home. You’ll be able earn $5 for every $50 you spend on every purchase. If you’ve been holding off on your big LEGO purchases such as the recently released The LEGO Movie MetalBeard’s Sea Cow (70810) or The Simpsons House (71006), now is the best time to get them.

There will probably be another one of these days later on this year as well. Be sure you’re signed up to be a VIP member when you purchase from LEGO because you may be able to get in on rare Triple VIP Points like last year. We’ll let you know when the next double points are available so you can plan your purchases.

LEGO Pick-A-Brick Wall Changes

April 8, 2014 / Allen "Tormentalous" Tran

If you have been to a LEGO Brand Store recently, you might have seen some new changes to the Pick-A-Brick wall. For people who frequent the wall, you may have noticed that the price per cup has been raised $1.00 from its previous price. The smaller cups are now $8.99 each and the larger ones are $15.99. Another change is that the wall will have certain brick elements that are the same for every Brand Store and will be rotated simutaneously throughout the year. These elements will give kids some inspiration of what they can build and the labels suggest what they could go well with such as LEGO City or Star Wars.

For people who buy in bulk of the elements at the store, the prices for the cases has also gone up from the usual $75 to $100 price tag now. Even with the price increase, the cases are still a pretty good value if you need a lot of a certain element. How do you guys feel about these changes to the PAB Wall? Let us know in the comments below.

Shout out to Genevieve who does a great job in keeping our wall filled with cool and interesting pieces.

The May 2014 LEGO Store Calendar is now available and there some very interesting things happening during the month at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home. It looks like May will be the month to promote LEGO Star Wars products. One of the biggest things happening is the UCS Sandcrawler (75059) will be available May 3rd, just in time for the May the 4th promotion weekend. During that event, the Darth Revan minifigure polybag (5002123) will be available for purchases of $75 or more on Star Wars products.

The Club Meeting t-shirts will feature Anakin Skywalker.

The Free Monthly Mini Model Build will be a green dragon.

Finally, there will be a VIPs only early access to a new exclusive set starting on May 15th. I have not heard anything about the details of this set at this time. Word has it that the set may be the UCS Tumbler but there’s no confirmation of that. If you heard anything about it or want to speculate on what it is, feel free to leave a comment below.

Update: I’ve got a couple of emails of people mentioning the exclusive may be MINI Cooper as well as a fair-type set. This is … Continue
