In our last review of the LEGO Editions sets, we’ll be taking a quick look at Lionel Messi – Soccer Legend (43015). it has 958 pieces and retails for $79.99.
Build
The base of the set is just a grassy green field that Messi stands on. In the front, there’s a little plaque showing his name and the fake signature.
On the left side, there’s a brick-built sign for Messi using various tile pieces to spell out his name.
At the back of the base, we have a very large brick-built 10 for his jersey number. It uses a some plates for th base and pearl-gold tiles for the number details.
For the Messi figure itself, there is very little movement on it. There’s a slight swivel for the shoulders and some up and down movement at the neck.
The colors of the kit are his Argentinian blue and whites. The jersey has a printed slope for the 10 on the front and a printed hood piece on the back. There’s also waist swivel at the hips.
Messi’s right arm has some printed pieces for his tattoos. LEGO’s interpretation is just some random designs but there is one for the lotus flower. The left arm has a printed tile for the captain armband.
For the legs, there’s a printed 10 on a slope piece for the shorts. Both legs are static and they’re at a standing position. LEGO has Messi wearing some knee high socks instead of short ones to avoid having more printed pieces for his leg tattoos.
The alternate build for this set shows him dribbling the ball.
Results
Overall, the LEGO Editions Lionel Messi – Soccer Legend (43015) is just an okay set. I’ll give LEGO credit for making his face look like Messi unlike Cristiano Ronaldo. The whole build was relatively simple and does resembles Messi’s poses. The price of the set is a little high for what you get.
