LEGO Ideas Adventure Time Brick-Built Characters (21308) Set Revealed

LEGO Ideas Adventure Time Brick-Built Characters (21308)

LEGO has revealed an image of the LEGO Ideas Adventure Time Brick-Built Characters (21308) which will displayed at San Diego Comic Con 2016 next week. The set will be released in January 2017 and the characters include Finn, Jake, Princess Bubblegum, Lady Rainicorn, Marceline, BMO, Gunter and Ice King. The set will contain 495 pieces and retail for $49.99.

The project was designed by aBetterMonkey and it achieved 10,000 supporters back in May 2015 and it was eventually approved by LEGO to become an official set in March.

If you’re looking for the traditional minifigures of some of the Adventure Time characters, LEGO Dimensions will be releasing some of them in September.

I thought there would be a few more characters.

Would have preferred minifigures, likely wont get them now due to this set =/

In addition the brick-build figures don’t look that great. I think Gunter and BMO are pretty much the only two in the set that look reasonable. The others either have terrible faces or simply look ‘off’

The characters are brick built because that’s how they were made in the original LEGO Ideas submission. Certain Adventure Time characters will also be made available in upcoming LEGO Dimensions packs.

True, however with the new ruling about Lego products. Its possible that because of this Lego Ideas submission that we wont receive the entire line-up of characters in minifigure form. Sure we’ll probably get the main one’s such as Marceline, Finn, Jake, Ice King and Gunter… but i doubt we’ll end up getting characters such as Flame Princess due to this.

That’s mostly what I’m concerned about, as if i want Adventure Time figures, I’d want the ability to get every figure from that theme… or at least every main re-occurring figure.

I don’t see how the LEGO Ideas set has any bearing on which characters will be made available in minifigure form. Dimensions already has a very limited selection of characters from respective properties (which is a good thing, because most people are not going to want to buy a new Fun Pack or Team Pack every time they come out). Additionally, if you’re speaking of the presence of Adventure Time minifigures outside of Dimensions, that will depend on how successful the Ideas set is, and if LEGO believes it would be economically viable to expand upon the theme (as we saw with Minecraft and Ghostbusters).

These aren’t the droids I’m looking for …

It will be really interesting to see how this set does in light of the fact that the mini figure versions will be available through Lego Dimensions.

We’ll see. However, I doubt we would get a minifigure of say… Rainbow Unicorn.

Don’t see how this would conflict with Adventure Time’s inclusion in Dimensions at all. One version has brick built characters, while the other has standard minifigures. Not to mention there are far fewer Adventure Time characters in Dimensions form than there are in the Ideas set. And the Dimensions packs include the figures and ability to use them in game, making the Ideas set a better value per character.

Well as an adult they are not for me, but the project got the support and like Harry Potter and reading anything that will get kids using their bricks more creatively to make more characters instead of just making standard models from a box must be a good thing.

So this is the 3rd set that they were holding back on announcing. I’m not into it at all but the unicorn thing looks cool.

    $50?!? NO NO NO

I’m interested in Lady Rainicorn and the smaller BMO. They might go well with the Dimensions figs.
