LEGO Legends of Chima Summer 2014 Ultrabuild Sets Not Available in North America

LEGO Legends of Chima Ultrabuild CHI Laval (70206)

I haven’t been following the LEGO Legends of Chima Ultrabuild sets since the official images were found last month but there is some news that people may not be happy about. BZPower reported earlier this month that the summer 2014 wave of the Ultrabuild/Constraction sets will not be released in North America. Andrew notes that the information came directly from LEGO so there’s no questioning that this piece of news is not a rumor. I know there are people in North America who are in this niche group and love to build these sets as well as Constraction MOcs and this is obviously devastating news to hear.

LEGO hasn’t given an explanation that I know about of why the Chima Ultrabuilds would not be sold over here but I speculate that poor sales of the previous Ultrabuilds may have been a factor. It’s a shame that people who want them here in the US have to purchase them from overseas and whatnot because the summer wave ones actually looked pretty cool. If you want a chance to win one of the sets, BZPower has been reviewing them and are doing giveaways for them. What are your thoughts on this revelation?

What countries will they be available in?

If it’s anything like what Lego did with the fourth series in the Star Wars Planets line then these will be available everywhere except for North America and Canada.

After what happened with the last & best series for the Star Wars Planets, I halfway expected this. To be honest I only picked up a couple from the 1st wave of these buildable characters although I might have picked up more if Walmart or Target wasn’t stingy on the discounts. I really was looking forward to most of these in the second wave. Well so much for that then.

Come to think of it, I’m surprised they released more of those Speedorz considering how long they continue to linger even with heavy sales like being half off. Anyone else not like the new box design for the Speedorz? They feel flimsy, easy to crush, and just look odd. At least the older blister pack style was durable and you saw everything. I will admit the new lower price is a bit better.

It always seems that some stuff from a later wave are better than previous waves and we actually look forward to them but then we find out that we won’t be getting them, like with the Planets sets and the Game sets and now these. It’s disappointing.

Will this be out in Mexico?

    • Allen

Since Mexico is part of North America, I would probably say no to that.

what really pisses me off in this case….you don’t want to rely on US retail, fine…but…at least sell them thru the website

I don’t understand why they aren’t available through S@H either.
