It’s never too early for Christmas but here’s a short review of a little Seasonal set I found at the LEGO Store this week, the Holiday Scene Magnet (853353). It’s interesting because this set has been sold since 2011 and it’s still available for purchase on [email protected]. The set contains 48 pieces and retails for $9.99. The contents of the Christmas Scene Magnet include a small bag with the parts, a small instruction sheet, and a sticker sheet with the words Merry Christmas in different languages.
The Santa minifigure is a simple one with him wearing a bandana instead of the typical Santa hat. Note that he also has freckles on his face.
On to the build itself, it’s only 8 studs long but there is a small Christmas tree and a present. Santa also carries a satchel with a a letter. The more interesting piece is the 1×8 tile that says “Happy Holidays” which only comes in one other Seasonal set. The whole build is attached to a couple of 2×4 bricks with magnets. The magnets do hold pretty well to the fridge.
Finally, we have the sticker sheet with 12 stickers that say Merry Christmas in various languages including English, German, French, Italian, Dutch, Spanish, Danish, Finnish, Swedish, Portuguese, Romanian, and Polish. You can use the stickers on the 1×8 tile to replace the original printing.
Overall, the LEGO Seasonal Holiday Scene Magnet (853353) is a neat little set that I didn’t expect to find as this is the first time I’ve actually seen it in store. They’ve probably been available in previous years but I never noticed it. The set does make a good stocking stuff but the price is a little high for what you get. If you’re looking for something fun and whimsical, this could be the set for you.
