For those who have been for the LEGO Star Wars Darth Vader Pod (5005376) that’s supposed to come out later this month as a promotion, I’m sorry to say that the product has been cancelled. I’ve known this information for a few days now but LEGO has released an official statement of why the promo will not be happening.
Star Wars Pod No. 5005376
We have to inform that as part of our internal quality screening process, we have found that the Star Wars Metalized Pod 5005376 does not meet our strict standards. As you know, we take the quality and safety of our products extremely seriously, and so out of an abundance of caution we have decided not to launch the Star Wars Pod.
We are committed to continuing support for our Star Wars promotion, and will offer consumers 10% off across all LEGO® Star Wars products from 18th – 24th December 2017, excluding the Millennium Falcon product (75192).

Why can’t I find this on the main page or in the Star Wars section? I got to here from another website.
Weird I didn’t expect this to happen. Wonder what made them change their minds?
Suspicion is that it has to do with the pod itself. Batman was black, Ninjago was red, and Nexo Knights was something like Medium Blue. This one is reported to have been planned for a metallic color, which probably means drum-lacquered (painted). If that’s the case, there are two interior spots where regular LEGO parts are glued in place, and the hinge and clasp take a fair amount of abuse for the paint job to hold up to. Any or all of them could have been failing.
It does seem the most likely cause, since I have heard zero reports of any of the current pods having failures, and a drum-lacquered part is just a standard ABS part underneath. If it was a pearl color, the material is different enough that it could maybe lead to failures where regular ABS wouldn’t.
too bad the same QC’er didnt inspect the Iron Dragon faceprint.
