LEGO Star Wars Toys R Us May the 4th Building Event

The Toys R Us website hasn’t been updated yet but there will be a LEGO Star Wars May the 4th building event on May 6 from 12-2pm. There’s no word yet on what the build will be but hopefully we’ll get to see something before the event actually starts. If you are attending, remember to get there early as these events are very popular.

Update: Apparently, there’s a sign up form for the event and it is revealed on the page that the build will be a Micro Princess Leia. There’s a limited number of spots available for that day so sign up if you wish to attend. I’m not sure if the rules have changed and if walk-ups are accepted. I would call your store to confirm.

gee……would be nice if they could feature new SW sets for sale during the event.

Just peruse your local Warmart clearance section or resale stores about once a month. I’ve gotten some great stuff with very damaged boxes. There’s a resale store near me that sells damaged products, and I got Krennic’s Shuttle for 30$ since the box was a disaster. Not like it matters since the pieces are inside bags in the box anyway.

        new….as in June 1st releases.

Oh sorry. I’m always looking for Lego on sale. I thought you wanted the recent sets on sale. Hopefully it still helps you somehow.

Your point makes more sense now. It would be nice to get the new stuff on May 4th. Seems weird to wait until June 1st, because a bunch of people into Star Wars will be there on May 4th and probably willing to drop some cash on new stuff.

The UCS Snowspeeder will be available then, and they also get to use the May 4th promo to clear out a lot of older, retired SW sets to make room for the summer releases. So, makes sense to me.

My TRU had it listed yesterday, too. They’ve been listening to complaints about not enough giveaways for people, and have started requiring sign ups. (For example, for the birthday bash, kid’s get a stuffed doll and a book – and my January kid didn’t get that stuff – no sign ups at that one, they ran out – but my March kid did – after they started sign ups).

Could be interesting for the LEGO build days if you don’t sign up. When I signed up it asked me for the number of kids and told me how many spots were left.

Also, note that May 6 is also Free Comic Book Day so lots going on that day.

So the board in the image says there’s three events on May 6th. The first is the registry event between 10-11am. Next is the LEGO SW event between 12-2pm. Last comes Geoffrey’s Birthday between 3-4pm. Then there’s two regular events on the 13th, another registry event on the 16th, and two more regular events on the 20th and 21st. I would have assumed those two registry events are when you are required to sign up for any upcoming events. Did you sign up for this LEGO event at a registry event, or were you able to just go in and sign up at any time in advance?

My store had a little printout that just had “Reaerve your spot at ToysRUs.com/reserve”

So I stood there and tried it. Skeptical, but it worked. It redirects to a babiesrus site. But stick with it and scroll down to “Events and Classes” and click Reserve. That will take you to a screen that asks for your zip. Select the store you are interested in.

For my store, it brought up all the upcoming events at the store, and let’s you reserve. It also tells you how many spots are left. Yesterday there were 77. It’s down to 71 now.

        Hope that clarifies a bit.

Thank you for the heads up for the sign up. I didn’t know they did that for the building events.

Fortunately I’m at TRU every other week. I had no idea about the sign ups for the Build events until I saw the extra sign tacked on. I thought it was weird but figured I’d try it – rather be safe than sorry.

It’s a San Diego area TRU, btw.

The Registry Events listed are for expectant parents to create or add to their baby registry.

Going through the reserve process Alpinemaps mentioned and on the reservation page it said “lego star wars make & take event
    Saturday, May 6, 2017 at 12:00 pm
    2 hours
    84 spots available
Join us on May 5th 12-2pm for a LEGO© Star WarsTM building event. Build and take home a free Micro Princess Leia build plus take part in a clue hunt.”

Looks like it will be a micro Leia build.

Thanks for posting what the content will be, and confirming that I wasn’t going crazy, lol.

When I signed up, there was no info on what the build would be.
