New LEGO Nexo Knights Logo Found

LEGO Nexo Knights

CM4Sci over on Eurobricks has revealed what appears to be the official logo for the new theme that will be coming out in 2016 called LEGO Nexo Knights. The details of the theme are pretty scarce but it will be replacing LEGO Legends of Chima and will be bringing a Castle-type theme with hints of Steampunk. The story will revolve around some hero characters named Clay, Macy, Aaron, Robin, and Lance going up against some baddies named Jestro, Moltor, and Lavaria.

Rumor has it there are six building sets as well as six character sets named Ultimate (Character Name) which I assume will be Constraction/Ultrabuild sets. More details as they become available.

LEGO 2015 Advent Calendars Available for Pre-Order on Amazon

If you’re a fan of the LEGO Advent Calendars, Amazon has all three of this year’s calendars available for pre-order including Star Wars, City, and Friends. The advent calendars have been pretty popular the past few years especially the LEGO Star wars one which usually sells out even before Thanksgiving time rolls around. They should be available at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home on or around September 1st so I suggest picking them up early if you really want one before they sell out.

Regarding LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Set Images

For the past couple of days, there has been a disturbance in the force regarding the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens set images. I have been getting a ton of emails of people notifying me about the official images being released. Yes, I have seen them and they look great. Some have also wondered why I haven’t posted any of the images. The reason is that we’re “supposed” to be under an embargo and are not allowed to post them. When those images came out, I emailed the LEGO CEE Team and wanted to confirm that we shouldn’t post them. Their response was simply. “Yes, the embargo remains.”

There have been quite a few big name sites that did post them which may make it seem that it would be okay to but I won’t be following in those footsteps. The reason is because I’m one of the newer members of the LEGO Ambassador Network and don’t want to jeopardize my working relationship with The LEGO Group just because of a couple of images. There was an request/agreement back in June to not post any of the TFA sets until we were allowed to and I will be sticking to that agreement.

Yes, this is big news and we’ve been waiting a long time for these TFA images but I’m pretty sure LEGO didn’t want them to be released this way. I am not looking for page views and whatnot. Just because some some sites have posted them doesn’t mean that I should. If this … Continue

No Starch Press The LEGO Architect Book Review

The LEGO Architect

No Starch Press continues to crank out books geared towards LEGO fans and the next one I have for review is The LEGO Architect by Tom Alphin. This book contains 192 pages and retails for $24.95 and it gives you a history lesson about the different architecture styles throughout the world.

The LEGO Architect

Travel through the history of architecture in The LEGO Architect. You’ll learn about styles like Art Deco, Modernism, and High-Tech, and find inspiration in galleries of LEGO models. Then take your turn building 12 models in a variety of styles. Snap together some bricks and learn architecture the fun way!

The LEGO Architect

The LEGO Architect is separated in to different chapters by type of architecture such as Neoclassica, Modernism, Postmodern, etc. Within each chapter, Tom talks about some of the history for that architecture type with examples of real-life buildings that incorporate it.

The LEGO Architect

Of course this is a LEGO book so Tom also shows off different MOCs that uses the style. To take it a step further, Tom also gives you building instructions with a parts list of each type of architecture he talks about in the book.

The LEGO Architect

The LEGO Architect

At the end of the book, there are some tips and ideas of how to build your own buildings from various builders including Adam Reed Tucker who’s known for being involved with the LEGO Architecture theme.

The LEGO Architect

Overall if you’re starting to get into creating buildings and structures, then The LEGO Architect is a good reference guide to help you start building. The instructions given are very helpful to give … Continue

LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303) Officially Revealed

LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303)

The Disney D23 expo is going on in Anaheim and LEGO has just officially revealed the LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303) set over on their blog. If you’re going to D23, you can meet Angus MacLane at the Pixar booth for some signings and at the LEGO Ideas panel. There’s not much new information as we already had some of the images and description from Amazon a few days ago. The set will be available at LEGO Stores and on Shop@Home on September 1st for $49.99.

Build, display and role play with WALL-E! Construct the LEGO Ideas version of WALL-E with posable neck, adjustable head and arms, gripping hands, opening trunk and rolling tracks. Build a beautifully detailed LEGO version of WALL-E -the last robot left on Earth! Created by Angus MacLane, an animator and director at Pixar Animation Studios, and selected by LEGO Ideas members, the development of this model began alongside the making of the lovable animated character for the classic Pixar feature film. It has taken almost a decade to perfect the LEGO version, which incorporates many authentic WALL-E characteristics, including a posable neck, adjustable head, arms that move up and down and side to side, plus gripping hands and rolling tracks. With a trunk that opens and closes, you can tidy up the planet one pile of garbage at a time! This set also includes a booklet about the designer and the animated Pixar movie.

  • Move the arms up and down and side to side
  • Open and close the trunk

LEGO Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082) Review

LEGO Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082)

Since today is a Thursday, let’s do a sort of a retro review on a newer set. For one more day, LEGO will be giving out the promo LEGO Classic Pirates Minifigure (5003082) with purchases of $75 or more at LEGO Brand Stores and on Shop@Home. Some stores may have already run out of their stock so online is probably the only way you can get it. This set continues the trend from last year where LEGO releases a set dedicated for a classic theme. Last year, we had the Classic Spaceman Minifigure (5002812) and now we have another theme with the Pirates.

Box

Like with the previous promo, the box for the Classic Pirates Minifigure is made of a matte-like material. The design is also the same with the classic LEGO System logo on each side of the box and the year now shows 2015.

The contents of the promo box include a sealable bag of parts, a postcard showing off some of the LEGO Pirates minifigures through the years, and the building instructions/history guide.

The postcard shows a few Pirates minifigures including Captain Redbeard as well as some of the newer ones from this year.

For the instruction booklet, the first couple of pages show you the build while the rest of the book shows you a variety of LEGO Pirates sets starting from 1989 until the present. Did you know there was a LEGO Pirates Advent Calendar (6299) in 2009?
