LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron Throne of Ultron SDCC 2015 Exclusive Set Revealed

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes SDCC Exclusive Throne of Ultron

San Diego Comic Con 2015 is upon us and The Hollywood Reporter has given us our first look at one of the exclusive sets that will be sold there, the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Avengers: Age of Ultron Throne of Ultron. The set consists of 203 pieces and will be sold for $39.99. It will have four minifigures: Ultron and three Ultron Sentries. It looks like all the minifigures are already in the current wave of Avengers: Age of Ultron sets with Ultron being the same as in The Quinjet City Chase (76032) and the Sentries looking similar to the ones in the Iron Man vs. Ultron (76029) set but with the added neck brace piece.

As we all know by now, these exclusives are getting almost impossible to get when at SDCC unless you’re in the know. There will be a limited amount sold each day and usually the line will be filled up in a few minutes after the doors open. I’m going to try and get in line for it but I’m chances are slim that I’ll get one. I wish that LEGO would do what Mattel did with their SDCC exclusive this year and allow attendees to pre-order online and pick them up during the convention so it’s more organized. Many don’t know this but the LEGO booth isn’t ran by LEGO employees but LEGOLAND employees which is ran by Merlin Entertainments.

LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303) Official Images Revealed

LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303)

Earlier today, the official images of the new LEGO Ideas WALL•E (21303) set was publish on Smyths Toys website. The set was designed by Angus MacLane who also worked on the movie and his project on LEGO Ideas garnered enough support in the eyes of fans as well as LEGO to have this set be produced. WALL•E (21303) is listed to be released in December and has a retail price of €57.99 which corresponds to about $39.99 here in the states. It isn’t certain but that’s my guess for similarly priced sets and it could be as high as $49.99 considering it’s a licensed set.

Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it. I did see it this morning and sent out a tweet from my phone but didn’t have a way to do this post. What do you guys think of the set?

Preview BrickLink’s New Facelift

BrickLink has now entered the open beta test phase for the next iteration of the website called BrickLink Facelift. In this phase, you can check out the new skin, on-site payment, and improved Search/Catalog UI.

For the new skin, there will be some color changes made to the overall site with it now sporting a light blue background instead of the usual dark green we’ve been seeing for a while. The BrickLink logo will also be changing a little with new typography.

With BrickLink Facelift, there is now on-site payment which users can now complete the checkout process without leaving BrickLink. On-site payment will be supported by Stripe and PayPal and it accepts all major debit/credit cards including Visa, MasterCard, American Express, Discover, Diners Club and JCB. For PayPal, you must connect your PayPal account and enable onsite payment.

Finally, there is now a new All Items Search feature which returns the results for both Items for Sale and the Catalog Items Search.

You can check out the preview of BrickLink Facelift over at http://preview.bricklink.com/ and you can give your feedback on the news posting page. The changes are scheduled to be made sometime in June.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Battle Figures Stormtrooper Revealed

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Stormtrooper

Entertainment Weekly has given our first look at the new LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens Buildable Battle Figures Stormtrooper. This version of the Stormtrooper is the new First Order variant that will be seen in the upcoming Star Wars movie.

The set will consist of 81 pieces and stand 9 inches tall but no mention of the pricing. It’ll be available on January 1, 2016 but you can get your first close up look at it in next month’s San Diego Comic Con. I’ll be there when it is shown off to the public so you can be sure that I’ll be taking lots of pictures of it from different angles.

A LEGO Brickumentary Non-Spoiler Review

I was recently invited to watch a special screening for A LEGO Brickumentary which will be hitting theaters on July 31, 2015. I won’t talk too much about it but if you’re a fan of LEGO, this documentary is a definite must watch movie. Without spoiling too much, it takes you through the company’s history and its impact on the worldwide culture. Jason Bateman did a great job in narrating it which includes some humor as well. There are also plenty of interviews and stories about different AFOLs whom you may heard of like Jamie Berard, Alice Finch, Nathan Sawaya, and many more. It’s was cool to see some personal friends in the movie as well like Joe Meno and Tommy Williamson.

A LEGO Brickumentary was initially shown at the Tribeca Film Festival in 2014 and it was well received by critics and the movie was eventually picked up by RADiUS-TWC. I’d like to thank Liza from MPRM for reaching out and allowing me to watch the advance screening of the movie. Again, A LEGO Brickumentary will be in theaters on July 31. Check out the trailer below if you haven’t seen it yet.
