LEGO Super Heroes Super Jumpers – To Use or Not To Use?

In the new DC Comics Super Heroesicon and upcoming Marvel Super Heroes sets, LEGO has included a new gimmick called the Super Jumpers to encourage more play but there are some problems with it. I’ve gotten a few comments and emails from readers who want to get the word out on it since they’ve also run into this issue.

If you’re not familiar with the Super Jumpers, it’s a clear piece that you can attach your minifigures to and you push down to launch them in the air. If you covet your LEGO minifigures, I would suggest not using them. The reason is that they could potentially damage the back of the minifigures’ legs. There have been various reports on Eurobricks and Reddit, just to name a few, that this play feature has given people this problems.

The minifigures are hard to get on the jumpers and once you have them on, they have a lot of clutch power where they attach to the minifigures pretty tightly which makes it a little harder to pull off. If I was a child playing with it, I would just push the minifigure all the way down but this is what causes the damage especially with that unnecessary little ridge piece where the back of the legs meet the jumper. The plastic causes more stress than usual to the legs and it actually warps them and creates small dents on the leg holes (see below).

For the casual person who just plays with the set, it may or … Continue

LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) Officially Retiring

The highly anticipated and very popular LEGO Ideas Exo Suit (21109) will be officially retired. The project by Peter Reid encompasses the feelings of the LEGO Space theme with the design of the Exo Suit as well as the minifigures included. Unfortunately, all things must come to an end and for the Exo Suit, it will be gone on at the end of February.

You can still order the set on Amazon or Shop@Homeicon but there are very limited quantities available. You may still also find them in LEGO Stores and possibly other retailers like Target and Toy R Us but the best chance to get it is still online. We’ve done a review of the Exo Suit (21109) and you can read more on it if you like.

Disney Princess Frozen: Elsa’s Ice Palace Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Disney Princess Frozen: Elsa’s Ice Palace by Fohzen is the latest project to hit 10,000 on LEGO Ideas. This project was inspired by the movie and was submitted before the official LEGO Disney Princess Elsa’s Sparkling Ice Castle (41062)icon was released late last year. This version of the castle is made with more translucent bricks to give it a more natural ice look to it.

Elsa’s Ice Palace will be joining The Discworld, Science Adventures, and the Medieval Market Street as qualifiers for the First 2015 Review Stage. Although the project was created before the official set was released, it has a small chance of passing due to LEGO having an active license with Disney and they even stated in the comments, “a project based on an existing LEGO license has a smaller chance of passing the LEGO Review than other projects.” Many fans of the project would like to see this set be produced but I wouldn’t hold my breath.

New Target Inventory Tracker Tool by BrickPicker

Our friends over at BrickPicker has been expanding recently and they’ve developed a Target Inventory Tracker tool. The main thing that I’ve noticed and appreciate is the DPCI search option on the right side. Once you click the link, you get a little popup which allows you to search for items. Just put in what you’re searching for and once the results come up, you get a list along with the DPCI numbers that you can click which automatically fills the search box so you don’t even have to copy and paste it.

When the results are shown, you get to see which stores have the item in stock with a 100 mile radius as well as geo-location pins to see which store are closest to you. There is also information about the store like address, phone number, hours, as well a store layout so you can know exactly where the toy section is at for each store. If there is inventory at a store, you have the option to purchase it right then which takes you to Target’s product page. Some items are eligible for Store Pickup but some aren’t so you have to double check that.

Overall, the Target Inventory Status tool is pretty neat and can be pretty helpful if you’re searching for a particular item. You don’t even have to be a member of BrickPicker to use the free tool so it’s worth checking out and bookmarking it.

Note: Before I get comments saying that Brickseek has a similar tool, I’ve also … Continue
