LEGO Themed T-Shirts on Ript Apparel

Ript Apparel today has two different LEGO themed t-shirts for sale for 24 hours. The first on, seen above, is Autoblocks by MEKAZOO. It’s the Transformers Optimus Prime building his vehicle mode with LEGO bricks.

The second shirt is a little darker and is based on The Walking Dead TV show with the famous words “Don’t Open, Dead Inside” painted on the hospital doors. The t-shirt is called The Walking Bricks by Moysche and it has the words “Don’t Open, Bricks Inside” with zombie minifigure arms reaching out.

Both t-shirt are available at Ript Apparel for 24 hours and they start at $10 each.

LEGO City & Creator 2015 Sets Showing Up at LEGO Stores (USA)

LEGO Store City 2015 Sets

A few days ago, we reported that the LEGO City 2015 sets have started showing up at Toys R Us stores in Canada. For us here in the States, we don’t have to wait anymore. LEGO Brand Stores have started carrying some of the 2015 City sets as well as the 2015 LEGO Creator sets as well. The sets are supposed to be released in January but it looks like you can get them a little early just in time for the holiday season.

You may want to give your store a call to see if they have them in stock or not. Your mileage may vary. Thanks to John for sending over the images.

Update: I was also informed that some of the 2015 LEGO TECHNIC sets are also available now.

LEGO Subscription Box – BrickSwag November 2014 Review

Brick Builders Club November 2014 Box

It’s that time of the month again. The November 2014 Brick Builders Club subscription box is here so let’s take a look at what we get for this month. If you haven’t seen the reviews of Brick Builders Club before, check out the September and October boxes to see what you can potentially get.

Brick Builders Club November 2014 Box

The first item in this month’s box is the guaranteed exclusive t-shirt that you get every month. This one is a light blue shirt and the design is a pile of LEGO bricks with a danger sign. As many of us may have experienced before, stepping on LEGO bricks is not a good feeling.

The next item is a LEGO Knights’ Kingdom II Catapult (5994) polybag. This set was originally released in 2005 and retailed for only $0.99. The catapult consists of 27 pieces and contains a fairly rare medium blue horse helmet.

Next is a small temporary tattoo sheet featuring some pirate themed tattoos such as a pirate flag, a mom LEGO heart, and an anchor.

Brick Builders Club November 2014 Box

Continuing on with the Brick Builders Club, we again have some Funky Fig trading cards courtesy of The Mad Stacker. What I like about these cards is the old school feel and the glossy quality they have.

Another new item that’s in this month’s box is a foam traffic cone with the caption “Building in Progress.” This is an awesome novelty item that I can have on my desk whenever I’m building and it wouldn’t look distracting.

The Hummingbird is of the Green Violetear (Colibri thalassinus) variety, the Robin is of the European variety (Erithacus rubecula), and the Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is native to North America. What’s cool about this set is that the name plates for each of the birds have their Latin names as well as the unique stands they sit on. The Hummingbird has a clear one which makes it look like it’s hovering next to the flower. The Robin is on a wooden branch and the Blue Jay is on a metal perch.

Check out the details of the LEGO Ideas Birds (21301) set below.

Put down your binoculars and get closer to nature with these intricate LEGO® models of well-known birds! Created by keen gardener and bird enthusiast Thomas Poulsom and selected by LEGO Ideas members, each replica bird hails from a different continent: the Robin from Europe; the Blue Jay from North America; and the Hummingbird from South America. These beautiful and detailed models come with their own presentation stands showing their scientific names, so that you can display your birds for all to enjoy or detach and play as you wish. Brickrock Moab 2015 Wall Calendar by Clankwerks

Brickrock Moab 2015 Wall Calendar

Today, we have rather interesting review. It’s not an official LEGO product but it does contain LEGO MOCs. Andrew Payne, aka Clankwerks, is into LEGO products as well as the outdoors so why not combine the two. He has created a Brickrock Moab 2015 Wall Calendar that features some of his MOCs in the wild in Moab, Utah. This project was a year long one from designing and building the vehicles to taking them out to various locations such as the Slickrock Trail and the Delicate Arch. Some of the MOCs include Jeeps, UTVs (Utility Task Vehicles), Unimog campers, and Volkswagen Westfalia Campers.

The calendar itself is made from glossy paper and is filled with a number of holidays and events that you may or may not heard of like National Go Barefoot Day and National Tortilla Chip Day. It even has the founder of The LEGO Group Ole Kirk Christiansen’s birthday on there which makes a great trivia question for LEGO fans.

As a photography enthusiast, the details in the photos are very nice from the coloring to the depth of field of the MOCs to the background. If you’re interested in the 2015 Calendar, head over to Etsy to purchase your own. Also, if want to build your own versions of the MOCs, head over to Imgur and there are links to the LXF files on Eurobricks.

The LEGO Movie Winter 2015 Set Videos

LEGO has released some short videos featuring the three new The LEGO Movie sets that will be available in January 2015. We first saw these videos on the official LEGO Facebook Page, but I just waited until the YouTube videos were available before writing about it. The first set is Batman & Super Angry Kitty Attack (70817) which includes Batman, Angry Kitty, and a Skeletron. It will retail for $9.99.

The second video features the Double-Decker Couch (70818) which is a combination of sets that have been released this year. It includes the Double-Decker Couch from MetalBeard’s Sea Cow (70810) and Emmet’s Car from a Toys R Us event back in February. The draw of the set are the five minifigures you can get which includes Emmet, Ghost Vitruvius, Benny, President Business, and the new Unikitty that was revealed during SDCC. Note that Ghost Vitruvius is also a new minifigure while Benny is from a more expensive set in his Spaceship (70816)icon. This set will retail for only $14.99.

The final set for The LEGO Movie Winter 2015 wave is the Bad Cop Car Chase (70819). This set contains Bad Cop’s police car as well as small motorcycle. The minifigures include Bad Cop, Wyldstyle, and two Robo SWAT. Finally, you also get the chair that Bad Cop keeps kicking around. This set retails for $29.99.

LEGO 2014 Holiday VIP Shopping Event Attendee Clarification

LEGO 2014 Holiday VIP Shopping Event

A day after the LEGO Store Exclusive 2014 Holiday VIP Shopping Event, I have some information that may help you become one of the VIP members who may be chosen to attend the event next year. The following information was what LEGO Store employees were allowed to give:

They were selected on the basis they were in the top 35 VIP members for their local store based on engagement and purchases since joining LEGO VIP.

From the looks of it, the surveys VIP members fill out on their receipts do count towards your “engagement” level and LEGO takes that into consideration how many you complete in addition to the amount you spend at the store. I overheard people talking and and found out that it was a coincidence that they were frequent survey takers as well. I try to fill mine out usually the same day or within a couple of days. If you forget to do it, LEGO usually sends an email reminder to the registered email address. If you’ve ever filled out a survey, it pretty much asks about your recent experience at the store and would you recommend it to other people.

I hope this helps clear up a little bit on what the “requirements” were to attend the event and maybe next year, you could be one of the chosen few.
