LEGO City 2015 Sets Showing Up at Toys R Us Canada

Canadian readers, you may want to hit up your local Toys R Us stores. A reader named Daniel has found some of the new 2015 LEGO City sets at his store, the Dune Buggy Trailer (60082) and the Slowplow Truck (60083). This is really early because usually we see the new sets probably a month early at the most but not this early. If you can’t wait until January to get these sets, check your Toys R Us and you may get lucky like Daniel did.

Riddle of Regicide MOC by BrickWarriors Ryan Hauge

RoR Thieves Guild Overall

Ryan Hauge over at BrickWarriors not only has a business selling their popular LEGO minifigure accessories but he’s also a published author because he’ll be releasing his first novel, Riddle of Regicide (Pentavia Book 1), on Amazon tomorrow. You may not know this but being an author is hard work so hopefully I can help Ryan out by giving him some exposure.

In addition to completing his book, he has also made a MOC of the main character, Draxin, training at the Thieves Guild. You can check out more images of his MOC over on his Flickr.

Draxin Stormgarde awakens in the Thieves Guild with no memory of his past, no memory of his family. After being forced into training with Yortaz the evil jester, Draxin learns that the Thieves Guild is plotting to assassinate the king. And he’s the person they expect to do it.

During a raid gone awry, Draxin escapes and meets Ravelin, a mysterious royal agent tasked with protecting the king. Together, they race against time to stop the Thieves Guild before the king arrives in town for the annual Elk Day Festival.

Throughout his quest to save the king and unearth the demons of his past, Draxin must outwit a menagerie of fearsome beasts and sinister villains to keep from literally losing his head.

Will Draxin solve the riddle of regicide in time to save the king, or will Yortaz and the poisonous Thieves Guild prevail?

Toys R Us Ultimate Wish Saturdays LEGO Building Event This Weekend

Continuing with their Ultimate Wish Saturdays at your local Toys R Us stores, they will be hosting another LEGO building event. This Saturday, November 22 from 12pm-4pm, head to your store and your child can build a winter city scene.

Again, these free building events are intended for children ages 3 and up and they usually get pretty packed so get there early if you want to attend. There’s no images of what the winter city scene will look like at this time so you’ll have to go there and check it out. Thanks to everyone who emailed in about it.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Rocket Raccoon (5002145) Toys R Us Ad

LEGO Rocket Raccoon Toys R Us

It looks like we finally got our answer on the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Rocket Raccoon (5002145) polybag that’s been eluding many people for the past couple of weeks. Toys R Us has updated their weekly ad and it is with a promotion that is running from November 21-22. It will be free with any LEGO purchase of $30 or more. This is the same offer that Canada had last month. Hopefully, you can still buy the Rocket Raccoon as a stand-alone polybag as many people have been doing for a while now.

The Brick Fan Now Mobile-Friendly

If you’ve been visiting the site on a mobile device the past day or so, you may have noticed some changes. With Google announcing that mobile-friendly sites could potentially give a search ranking boost, the SEO inside me decided to make some changes to appease the Google overlords and hopefully get the site exposed a little more to the masses.

The first thing you’ll see is less images, mainly the usual banner and the background. Instead I’ve opted to use more text and give it a cleaner look. I still have to configure the colors of the header but right now, I’ll leave it as it. At the bottom of the posts are the same ads you see on the desktop version of the site as well as all the categories. Commenting is also available using Disqus so nothing has changed there.

As a result of these changes, I feel that visitors can easily read the text without having to zoom in to the page to read it like before. Check out the site on your mobile device if you haven’t yet and let me know if there are any bugs or errors. I’m still going to be tweaking around with it to try and make it the best experience possible but so far it looks stable.

Update: A request I’ve gotten is a desktop option. That is one of the things I’m currently working on.
Update 2: I’m going to suspend this project until I figure out some things out for the long-term. Sorry for … Continue
