The Brick Fan Now Mobile-Friendly

If you’ve been visiting the site on a mobile device the past day or so, you may have noticed some changes. With Google announcing that mobile-friendly sites could potentially give a search ranking boost, the SEO inside me decided to make some changes to appease the Google overlords and hopefully get the site exposed a little more to the masses.

The first thing you’ll see is less images, mainly the usual banner and the background. Instead I’ve opted to use more text and give it a cleaner look. I still have to configure the colors of the header but right now, I’ll leave it as it. At the bottom of the posts are the same ads you see on the desktop version of the site as well as all the categories. Commenting is also available using Disqus so nothing has changed there.

As a result of these changes, I feel that visitors can easily read the text without having to zoom in to the page to read it like before. Check out the site on your mobile device if you haven’t yet and let me know if there are any bugs or errors. I’m still going to be tweaking around with it to try and make it the best experience possible but so far it looks stable.

Update: A request I’ve gotten is a desktop option. That is one of the things I’m currently working on.
Update 2: I’m going to suspend this project until I figure out some things out for the long-term. Sorry for … Continue

Adult LEGO Users Survey and Sweepstakes

LEGO is doing an Adult LEGO Users Survey and they are collecting information about the behavior of AFOLs who use LEGO products.

The survey asks you typical questions such as how likely are you to recommend LEGO products to others and reasons on why. It also asks if you have been in the “Dark Ages” and why you decided to become an AFOL.

It’s a pretty interesting survey and after you finish, you have an opportunity to enter their sweepstakes to win some LEGO products so there is an incentive to doing it. The survey takes about 5 minutes to complete and ends on December 17, 2014.

Batman vs Superman by BrickNerd

Batman Vs Superman

BrickNerd, aka Tommy Williamson, is back with their latest LEGO stop-motion project, Batman vs Superman. This short video pits Batman against Superman for some wildly unknown reason because Batman’s being Batman.

The animation is very smooth and it doesn’t even look like the video is even a stop-motion animation which shows how much effort Tommy and his team put in. Plus, the poster by Paul Lee is pretty cool looking too. Check out the video below.

New Rumors of LEGO Scooby-Doo Theme Coming in 2015

Late last night, we reported on a new rumored “spooky” retro theme that would be potentially coming out in 2015. One of the guesses that people thought of was Scooby-Doo. What we know so far is that Character Building had the license to produce figures based on the TV show but it may have expired or will be expiring and LEGO picked it up much like what happened with Doctor Who.

There has now been an update and it looks like there will indeed be a LEGO Scooby-Doo theme next year. According to the comments over on Hoth Bricks, a user by the name of Miniworld knows someone who has seen some of the Scooby-Doo sets at a showroom in France and was able to give some descriptions.

First, they are scheduled for release around May/June 2015. There will be four sets in total including the famous Mystery Van which has minifigures of Fred, Shaggy, and Scooby-Doo. The next set is a Haunted House that includes Shaggy, Scooby, Daphne, and Velma. There were also two other sets but there aren’t any descriptions. However, they mention that there was a Swamp Monster in one of these sets.

This new report collaborates what Iso3200 said a few days ago over on the Brickset Forums. Also, note that Warner Bros. will be releasing a new TV show called Be Cool, Scooby-Doo! and will be shown on Cartoon Network, which both companies are also partners of The LEGO Group, so these sets could be based on that. LEGO BTTF Jules Verne Train Instructions by Team BTTF

Earlier this year, the BTTF – Jules Verne Train by Team BTTF achieved 10,000 supporters on then LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately, it wasn’t chosen as one of the projects that would be official sets in the First 2014 LEGO Review. For those who really wanted this to be a real set, there’s some good news.

Today, Team BTTF announced that they have provided the instructions for free in LXF format. You can easily import the instructions to LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) to build your own version of Jules Verne Train.

There are two different versions of the train: the regular locomotive version and the one with the motor included. Check out the video below to see the Jules Verne Train in action.

Rumored 2015 LEGO Sets Including Brand New Theme?

There’s some interesting news coming out of the Brickset Forums yesterday. A user by the name of iso3200 who first talked about the upcoming LEGO Creator Detective’s Office (10246) modular building back in June is back with more rumors for 2015.

First up is a follow-up set to the LEGO Creator Fairground Mixer (10244) which would be a Ferris Wheel type set. This set could be added next to the Fairground Mixer to create a carnival type setting. They also speculate that it could easily attach a motor to it much like the Mixer.

The second rumor for 2015 is a brand new theme. Iso3200 states that it will “be loosely a follow-up/replacement/similar to Monster Fighters.” They also says it will have a retro feel and very kid friendly and “not very zombie.”

Some people are speculating that it could be a Ghostbusters theme while others are thinking it could be a Scooby-Doo theme considering that both are retro. I believe Character Building has the licence for Scooby-Doo minifigures and was extended in 2012. I’m not sure if the license has expired yet or will be expiring much like what happened with Doctor Who.

The Ghostbusters reboot movie has been pretty much green-lighted and will probably start filming early next year. Plus LEGO has already released a Ghostbusters set with Ecto-1 (21108) so it might be easier to bring more sets in.

All the rumors above seem fairly vague and I’m guessing they could be released next summer. As with all LEGO rumors, take them with … Continue

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Adam West in Peril Guide

LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham Box Art

We’re back again with another guide for LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham. This time we’re giving you information on how to do all the Adam West in Peril quests. There are 16 locations where you have to find and rescue him from danger and when you do all the quests, you can play as Adam West and unlock the “The Bright Knight” achievement/trophy.

Level 1: Pursuers in the Sewers

Location: Right before you you enter Killer Croc’s lair, you’ll see a Solomon Gundy pad towards the front of the screen. Use him and he’ll dig up an air pump. Step on it with a character and it’ll flush a green liquid out and it “frees” Adam below.

Level 2: Breaking BATS!

Location: At the top middle part of the area, there is a gold box that you can destroy. Build the pieces to reveal a Green Lantern pad. Use him and he’ll make a slide for Adam to come down from the rock on the waterfall.

Level 3: Space Suits You, Sir!

Location: After you reach the rotating satellite area of the stage, you’ll see Adam on top of a smaller satellite. You may have to rotate your camera a little to find him. Shoot it down and Adam will drop down too.

Level 4: Space Station Infestation

Location: At the beginning of the Joker boss battle, you’ll see a Plastic Man pad next to the dance floor. Use him to get to the upper level. There are some breakable items to the left. Use a … Continue
