Take a Break from SDCC and Check Out the LEGO Store

LEGO Store February 2014 Mini Monthly Build Event

If you’re from out of town attending San Diego Comic Con 2014 and want to take a little break from all the hustle and bustle of everything that is going on there, remember that San Diego does have a LEGO Store conveniently located at the Fashion Valley Mall. The MTS Trolley is right there at the mall and the Green Line runs every 10 minutes all the way down to the convention center. If you’re driving there, the address is 7007 Friars Rd, Space 965A, San Diego CA 92108.

The LEGO Store is located right next to the food court on the second level and you can’t miss it. Although, the LEGO booth at SDCC doesn’t have a Pick-A-Brick wall, the physical store does and it has a nice variety of elements that is stocked by my very good friend Genevieve. Also remember that the LEGO Creator MINI Cooper MK VII (10242) is now available for VIPs there and the LEGO Star Wars summer wave sets are also now in stock at the store. So check it out if you have some time. Tell them I sent you 😉

There will be 1,000 sets sold in total, 200 each day including preview night. Hopefully I’ll be able to score these sets tomorrow and do a review of them after I get back home.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Green Lantern vs. Sinestro (76025)

I was out checking out some stuff at San Diego Comic Con 2014 when I saw this news come in my feed. Unfortunately, I didn’t have my laptop with me and I started getting emails about it from number people but this piece of news is well worth the wait. Kotaku has revealed that we are finally getting a set with Green Lantern. Yes, Green freaking Lantern! The set is the LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Green Lantern vs Sinestro (76025).

In January 2015, we will finally be getting a set with the Green Lantern minifigure. Earlier today, we reported of an image posted by LEGO that may suggest that we could be seeing him in a future set. A few hours later, bam! There’s no piece count on the set but we do know that it will retail for $19.95. The set will consist of Mr. Hal Jordan, aka Green Lantern, and his nemesis, Sinestro. If that wasn’t enough, a white Space Batman minifigure that was featured in LEGO Batman 3: Beyond Gotham is also included.

Now that this set has been revealed, fans that have been waiting for a Green Lantern minifigure can be relieved that their dream has finally come true. The set will be on display at SDCC 2014 this week and we’ll get an up close look at it.

LEGO DC Comics Super Heroes Batman 75th Anniversary Poster Teaser?

LEGO Batman Celebrations

Today is National Batman Day and to celebrate the Caped Crusader’s 75th anniversary, LEGO has posted an image featuring Batman and the rest of the Justice League in front of a cake. The image shows Batman wearing a different outfit that we’ve haven’t seen before. It also shows Wonder Woman in her New 52 outfit as well as Green Lantern.

Past images similar to these are usually a tease of future products such as the Batman of Zur-En-Arrh minifigure and the Classic ’66 Batmobile so could this image be a teaser for minifigures that we could see in future sets?

It’s been speculated for a while now that Green Lantern will finally be in an official set and seeing him as a LED Lite where other characters are already seen in minifigure form may suggest that we could be seeing him soon.

First Look at LEGO Star Wars 15th Anniversary Minifigure Case

Continuing with our LEGO San Diego Comic Con 2014 coverage, StarWars.com has given a first look at the LEGO Star Wars 15th Anniversary Minifigure Case that will be displayed at the LEGO booth (#2829). As we mentioned before, the case will consist of over 600 LEGO Star Wars minifigures and measures 6.5 feet high. The case itself is also constructed out of 54,404 LEGO bricks and weighs 268 lbs. It took LEGO Master Model Builder Erik Varszegi, who also created the Smaug statue for the Warner Bros. booth (#4545), 500 hours to design and build the whole case. This will be the first time that every single LEGO Star Wars minifigure, from 1999 to the present, including big figs, will be displayed at one location. I’ll be there all four days so stay tuned for more LEGO news coming out of SDCC 2014!
