Philly Brick Fest Only A Week Away

Philly Brick Fest is only a week away and I’m happy to announce that I will be attending the convention and covering the event. This will be my very first LEGO event that I will be attending and I’m very excited that I can be a part of it. The convention will be held at the Greater Philadelphia Expo Center and opens at 10am until 5pm. If you’re in the area and you’re a LEGO fan, I highly recommend you attend it. Although you can’t buy any more tickets online, they will be available at the door. Hope to see you all there!

There are now a few more images of The Simpsons LEGO episode “Brick Like Me” that come directly from the physical copy of TV Guide. We can now see more characters from the show including the whole family as well as Principal Skinner and Nelson Muntz. These images are in addition to the ones we seen on the cover and from Entertainment Weekly. Thanks to Bill Kuchman from Popculturology for the heads up.

Ghostbusters Stay Puft Marshmallow Man Project on LEGO CUUSOO

Brent Waller whose idea of the latest LEGO CUUSOO set to be released, the Ghostbusters Ecto-1, is back with another project on CUUSOO. He has listed another Ghostbusters themed project, the Stay Puft Marshmallow Man. As you may know, Mr. Stay Puft was chosen as the Gozer’s Destructor Form when Ray Stantz let an image of it “just pop in there.”

Brent’s version of Mr. Stay Puft stands over 34cm (13 inches) tall and has fully articulated head, arms, hands, legs, and feet. I am astonished beyond the capacity for rational thought of this project and if you have the same feeling, be sure to support the project as well. Stay tuned as Brent has given a teaser for some minifigures to be included in the future. Can you guess who they are?

The Simpsons LEGO Episode Interview on Entertainment Weekly

Entertainment Weekly has released another image from the The Simpsons LEGO episode, “Brick Like Me.” They have done a Q&A with Simpsons co-executive producer Brian Kelley and executive producer Matt Selman and some interesting details came out from the interview including the producers have been wanting to make the May 4th episode since early 2012. They also talked more about the plot and LEGO’s investment in the episode. It was mentioned that LEGO helped pay for the episode and had some input as well. The LEGO Movie Experience at LEGOLAND California

Last month, I attended Star Wars Days 2014 at LEGOLAND California and while I was there, I also checked out the recently opened The LEGO Movie Experience. The LEGO Movie is now out worldwide but if you still haven’t seen the movie yet, there will be some spoilers after this point. You have been warned.

The LEGO Movie Experience is a replica of the basement area of “The Man Upstairs” which is shown at the end of the film. The area is filled with sets that were actually used in the movie including the different worlds in the movie such as Bricksburg, The Old West, Cloud Cuckoo Land, Middle Zealand, and the Octan Tower. Benny’s Spaceship, Spaceship, SPACESHIP! (70816) is also displayed in the space area of the basement. You can even see some nods to AFOLs such as Bruce Lowell’s donut and rubber duck. Another Image of The Simpsons LEGO Episode “Brick Like Me”

Yesterday, we saw the first image of The Simpsons LEGO 550th episode, “Brick Like Me,” premiering on Fox May 4th. Today, on The Simpsons Facebook Page, there is a new image of from the episode which again shows Marge with a different face, most likely used for animation purposes. You also get to see the Springfield County Court House with their slogan “Liberty and Justice For Most” as well as other various buildings in the background. LEGO CUUSOO Exo Suit Logo and Release Date Revealed

Back in January of last year the Exo Suit project by Peter Reid on LEGO CUUSOO hit 10,000 supporters and after the review stage, it was announced in October that it would become an official LEGO set. The LEGO designers have been hard at work and today, they have revealed the logo for the set as well as the release date of August 2014 courtesy of New Elementary. The AFOL team that was assembled to help plan and market the set along with LEGO employees consists of Peter Reid, Tim Goddard, Andrew Hamilton, Jeremy Williams, Drew Maughan, Tim Johnson, Julie Greig, Yvonne Doyle, and Ian Greig.

The team went on a two day workshop in Stansted, UK back in January and March to discuss how the set would be presented. Andrew Hamilton has built a model of what the meetings looked like below.
