LEGO Creator Santa's Workshop (10245)

There’s a new image on Hoth Bricks of the new LEGO Santa’s Workshop (10245). We mentioned this set last month in a post of sets that will be released in the next few months. This new addition is the latest set in the very popular Winter Village series. As mentioned before, there will be six minifigures: Santa, Mrs. Claus, and four elves and also shown in the image are also five brick built reindeer. The set will most likely be available in October like previous Winter Village sets and official images will be a few weeks before the release.

Update: Ed over on Brickpicker states that the set will retail for about $69.95. Price is subject to change but it will probably be $69.99.

The LEGO Movie Digital Download Available Next Week

For those who can’t wait to watch The LEGO Movie again, you’ll be glad to know that it will be available next Tuesday, May 20 on Amazon Instant Video. Of course with the digital download, you won’t be getting any physical product. On the other end of the spectrum for the Everything is Awesome Edition, you’ll be getting everything including the Blu-Ray, the regular DVD, the UltraViolet Digital version, the Vitruvius minifigure, a collectible 3D Emmet photo, and the bonus 3D movie.

To celebrate The LEGO Movie coming out next month, LEGO artist Sean Kenney has created a mosaic of the Everything is Awesome edition box. The mosaic will be displayed for Warner Brothers at a movie screening next Tuesday at Angel Stadium. Sean’s mosaic has 15,872 LEGO elements and measures 40″ x 58.” Check out more images of Sean’s masterpiece on his site.

BrickLink at Philly Brick Fest and Seed Part Challenge Announced

Philly Brick Fest Swag - BrickLink

A couple of days ago, Alice Finch on the BrickLink forums discussed her experience at Philly Brick Fest. A few others of the BrickLink team also attended PBF including Eunice, Alex, as well as founder of gaming company Nexon and new owner of BrickLink, Jung-Ju “Jay” Kim. During the event, the first BrickLink Building Challenge was held for AFOLs where they had to build something from prepackaged bags of miscellaneous parts. Carter Baldwin’s bird was the winner of the competition and the model will be submitted into the new BrickLink MOC Shop. Second place went to Lucas Robinson for his starfighter and Andrew Nickerson got third place for his spaceship. Check out the final creations from all the participants below.

In another post, Alice announced the first official Seed Part Challenge to the public. The part that has to be used in the build is a medium azure mudguard #50745. Below are the rules for the challenge and there are some very good prizes up for grabs.

Rules for submission:
• Creatively feature 1 or more of the seed parts in a unique, appropriate model of 250 parts or less
• Submissions can be made on moc.bricklink.com the first week of July and will need to include at least one clear photograph of the model. (More details on the submission process once the site is up.)
• It is recommended to not use extremely rare or expensive parts, as the winner of the challenge will be invited to submit their model to the MOC

LEGO Ideas Invisible Hand Achieves 10,000 Supporters

For the second day in a row, there is a project on LEGO Ideas that has hit 10,000 supporters. This time it is the Invisible Hand by LDiEgo. This project is one of the oldest projects on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas and was submitted on December 15, 2011 which shows that some projects do stand the test of time although that premise will no longer work with the new guideline that states that projects only have one year to get the required amount of supporters.

This project is a great representation of General Grievous’ flagship from the beginning of Episode III: Revenge of the Sith. The proposed project has 2562 pieces and measures about 92.60cm x 20.70cm x 43cm. There are also many features including removing parts of the ship to reveal the interior. There are also a number of minifigures included but will probably get reduced if it becomes an official set. Finally, there is a UCS plaque with the details of the destroyer. Check out close-up images of the project on LDiEgo’s Brickshelf.

Congratulations to LDiEgo for this accomplishment and the Invisible Hand now joins the Assault on Wayne Manor in the second review stage. The X-Men: X-Mansion now becomes the highest supported project on LEGO Ideas.

The Ultra Agents, a secret force of elite operatives, have sworn to protect the city and capture the villains. Help Agent Solomon Blaze and the rest of the Ultra Agents save Astor City from the crazed super villains before it’s too late!

LEGO Ideas Assault on Wayne Manor Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Assault on Wayne Manor project by DarthKy is the latest project to achieve 10,000 suupporters on LEGO Ideas. This is also the first project to hit 10k after the change from LEGO CUUSOO to LEGO Ideas. In a another first, the project is the first one to reach the second Review Stage.

The Assault on Wayne Manor is a modular set filled with play features as well as a bunch of minifigures, many of which we haven’t seen as an official minifigure yet. The project is one of the largest sets to reach the Review Stage but this is also a proposal. LEGO has the rights to change it to fit their business model as they see fit. We haven’t seen a LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas set that costs more than $49.99 but this one certainly will if it passes the review. Only time will tell if we get something this big as a LEGO Ideas product in the future. This year also marks the 75th Anniversary of Batman so this is some good timing. Will this timing factor in the decision to actually producing this set? Again, only time will tell.

Congratulations to Darthky but we may be seeing this creator again since they have another project that will most likely hit 10k some time in the near future, the X-Men: X-Mansion. If that project also reaches 10k, DarthKy will then be the first creator to have two of their own projects in a single Review Stage going up against each other. The Invisible HandContinue
