LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug Set Details

LEGO The Hobbit: The Desolation of Smaug

As we all know by now, there will be a second wave of the LEGO The Hobbit sets based on the second part of the three-part film series, The Desolation of Smaug. There are four sets to this wave, one of which was revealed during Day 3 of the 2013 San Diego Comic Con. Over on Eurobricks, some of the details for the sets have emerged. The details aren’t much but at least we know a little bit more about the sets. He also notes that the sets will be in stores this December.

Dol Guldur Ambush (79011) – There are three minifigures in the set: two orcs and some sort of soldier. There is also a grey rock. – ~$26.99

Mirkwood Elf Army (79012) – 442 pieces, six minifigures: two orcs, 3 elves, and an elvish king (possibly Thranduil). Set includes a wall and a tree in tan, dark tan, and brown. – ~$39.99

Lake Town Chase (79013) – Seen before but there is are images of the set including the box as well as the minifigures included: Bard, Bilbo Baggins, Thorin Oakenshield, Laketown Guard, Master of Lake-town (see below) – ~$56.99

Dol Guldur Battle (79014) – Six minifigures: Gandalf in grey outfit, probably Radagast, Nazgul-like character (Necromancer?), normal orc, “white” orc similar to Yazneg (Azog?), warrior with big red beard (Beorn?). The set looks similar to the Battle at the Black Gate (79007) but in grey bricks. – ~$79.99

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes Video Game Thor Asgard DLC Pack Announced

LEGO Thor: The Dark World Poster

Yesterday, we did a post revealing a new poster featuring Thor: The Dark World in LEGO form to promote the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes video game. Today, Warner Brothers announced there will be an Asgard DLC pack that will be available at launch and will include eight playable characters from the upcoming movie. There’s no word yet on the pricing and the list of characters included but looking at the poster, we can venture a guess on who the new characters could be: Thor, Loki, Odin, Heimdall, Malekith the Accursed, Lady Sif and the Warriors Three (Fandral, Hogun, Volstagg).

New York Comic Con 2013 is starting tomorrow and TT Games Game Director Arthur Parsons will be at the Marvel Video Games Panel showing off new parts of the game. There he will also reveal some more playable characters as well as some exclusive announcements. If you’re one of the lucky ones to go to NYCC 2013, the panel will be held at the Javits Convention Center, Empire Stage 1-E on October 12th at 12:15pm.

LEGO Marvel Super Heroes 2014 Set Details

A few weeks ago, we did a post on what some of the LEGO Marvel Super Heroes sets could be. Today, Kris Kelvin over at Eurobricks has gotten to see some blurry images of the 2014 Marvel sets and have given some descriptions on what we can kind of expect in the future sets. These are stated to be released in March 2014. The user also listed the DC Universe Super Heroes sets and you can read more there as well. We’ve also done a post with some descriptions of the DC sets.

Update: There are also some pricing listed for the sets from the user. They are in Polish Zloty but I’ve converted them to Euros. Since US pricing is somewhat based on Euro prices, we can approximate what they would cost here in the States.

Spider-Man

I’m going to venture a guess that the 2014 Spider-Man sets will be based on the Ultimate Spider-Man animated TV series similar to last year’s sets.

76014 – Spider-Man riding some sort of “tricycle” and another minifigure with a green torso, yellow hands, and yellow legs. I’m going to guess that the other minifig is Electro. – ~$17

76015 – Includes Spider-Man, Doctor Octopus, another minifigure, and a car. Hopefully we get a Doc Ock variant and not the same one as in the Doc Ock Ambush (6873). – ~$24

76016 – Includes a flying vehicle with two rotors, Spider-Man, and a brick-build figure. The vehicle could be the Spider Copter and the brick-built figure could be … Continue

LEGO Star Wars 2014 General Grievous Minifigure Found?

LEGO Star Wars 2014 General Grievous

A seller over on BrickLink has posted images of what appears to be the 2014 version of the LEGO Star Wars General Grievous minifigure. The seller is from the Czech Republic where a few leaks have originated from already including Batgirl and The Joker. If you gotten a chance to see the leaked images of the 2014 Star Wars sets, the minifigure from the seller does look very similar to the one in the pictures. General Grievous is listed in the General Grievous’ Wheel Bike (75040). As you can see, he is now white instead of tan and his eyes are a little bit different from previous versions.

LEGO Star Wars UCS Slave I in 2014?

Rumors have starting swirling about a new LEGO Star Wars UCS set that may be coming out in 2014. Over on Eurobricks, members mentioned that the newest Ultimate Collector’s Series set could be the Slave I. If Slave I was to come out in 2014, my guess is that it could be during LEGO’s “May the 4th Be With You” promotions since the company has released various UCS sets around that time including the R2-D2 (10225) in 2012 and the Red Five X-wing Starfighter (10240) from this year.

LEGO has released quite a few versions of the Slave I including some oddball sets such as the MINI version during Star Wars Celebration VI. There have been many memorable Star Wars vehicles that have become UCS sets but one of the most iconic ships hasn’t been featured yet. Maybe 2014 will be the time for the Slave I to make it’s mark as an Ultimate Collector’s Series set.
