LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232) Preview

LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232)

If you follow The Brick Show, you know that they’re at BrickFair Alabama this weekend. Stephen and Jason caught up with Kevin Hinkle to get his thoughts on the LEGO Creator Expert Palace Cinema (10232). According to Kevin, the Cinema took about six hours to build and has some new pieces including a red baseplate in the newest Modular building. Also as I suspected, the movie posters and the screen will be stickers, which is the first time that stickers will be introduced in a Modular building. There are numbered bags to three, one for each level of the building, and three instruction booklets in the box. Again as we noted before, there are 2196 pieces and retails for $149.99.

The Brick Fan Turns 1 Year Old

Today, The Brick Fan turns 1 year old. As I stated in a previous blog post, I began blogging under a different URL but I had to change it to thebrickfan.com on this day in 2012. At first, I was just using this blog to review LEGO sets that I purchase but I shifted to adding LEGO news a few months in and has evolved into what you now see today.

Now for some interesting facts I’ve gathered on the site. In a year, there have been 449 blog posts and have gotten 143 article comments. As you can see on the stats below, the site didn’t get that much traffic until July when San Diego Comic-Con started and doubled again when news of the 2013 LEGO sets became public. The site got 418,660 unique visitors with 647,740 page loads. My goal for this year is to double the traffic that the site currently gets now.

1st Year Site Stats

Here’s some other neat stats:

  • Pages/Visit: 1.55
  • Avg. Visit Duration: 00:01:34
  • New Visitors: 81.33%
  • Returning Visitors: 18.66%
  • 58.29% Search Traffic
  • 27.20% Referral Traffic
  • 14.51% Direct Traffic
  • Email Subscribers: 131
  • Facebook Page Likes: 1039

What I like the most about blogging is the friendships I’ve made this past year including, in no particular order, Richard over on Brick Fanatics, Stud from YourCreativeFriends, Beyond the Brick, the guys over at Brick Picker, Jeff, Ed, TheOrcKing, just to name a few. I would like to also thank our regular readers as well as the commenters who … Continue

LEGO Lord of the Rings The Black Gate (79007) Preview

The Canadian Sears website has the first image of the LEGO Lord of the Rings The Black Gate (79007) and also has details on the set and is listed it in stock for $74.99. The image posted has the “Confidential” stamp so we won’t post it here. The set has 655 pieces and the minifigures included are Aragorn, Gandalf the White, Mouth of Sauron, and 2 Mordor Orcs.

Fly the Great Eagle high above the Black Gate of Mordor where Aragorn and Gandalf the White must distract the Eye of Sauron. Use them to stage a scene while Frodo Baggins and his friend Sam throw the One Ring into the fiery depths of Mount Doom and destroy it forever. To reach the Ring’s final destination, you must defeat the Mouth of Sauron and the Mordor Orcs positioned high in the spiked gate walls. Then breach the gate and lead the attack on the enemy! Includes a Great Eagle and 5 minifigures with weapons: Aragorn, Gandalf the White, Mouth of Sauron and 2 Mordor Orcs.

Update – Sorry folks, Sears took down the page and the link no longer works. I will not be posting the image but you can probably find it floating around on the web.

LEGO Legends of Chima TV Series Premiere Recap and Initial Impressions

Tonight, the new LEGO Legends of Chima TV series premiered on the Cartoon Network. The show is broken up to two 30 minute shows. Here is a recap of the first episode of the series and my initial impressions after. Do not read if you do not want to be spoiled.

The series begins with Eris being captured by the Crocodile, Wolf, and Raven tribes as they’re moving towards the Lion tribe’s city.

The show continues with Laval looking for his harness for his “Age of Becoming” ceremony. He arrives at the Chi pool and sees his father, Lagravis, waiting for him to start the ceremony. Just as Laval gets his Chi orb, the castle suddenly gets attacked and Laval drops the orb. A disguised Cragger rushes in and steals Laval’s Chi as well as a few of the Chi from the pool and speeds off on his Speedorz bike and Laval gives chase. When they get to the jungle, Laval catches up and is about to strike him down but realizes it was Cragger.

A flashback of not long ago shows Laval looking for Cragger while they were playing hide and seek. Their friends from the different tribes show up after: Gorzan from the Gorilla, Eris from the Eagle, Rhogan from the Rhino, Skinnet from the Skunk, and Worriz from the Wolf.

Laval and Cragger practice on their sword skills and finds one of the members from the Bear tribe. After that, Laval and Cragger reveal they were best friends and Cragger wants to try … Continue
