LEGO Announces Price Increase Starting in August

LEGO has announced that the prices on some LEGO sets will be increased in August and September due to increased costs of raw materials and operating costs. They have not said which sets will get the price bump but they did state that some prices on sets will not change and some will get a single digit increase while the larger ones will get a percentage increase. Obviously, this will affect shopping habits and many will pull back due to inflation in other parts of the economy as well.

Update on pricing

The current global economic challenges of increased raw material and operating costs are impacting many businesses.

Putting consumers first is at the heart of what we do as a company, and for some time, we have absorbed these costs to keep pricing stable. However, as these costs have continued to rapidly rise, we have taken the decision to increase the price on some of our sets. This increase will come into effect in August and September.

The increase will differ depending on the set and prices will change on around a quarter of the portfolio. On some sets we will not alter price, on others there will be a single digit increase and on larger, more complex sets the percentage increase will be higher.

We will continue to work to ensure our products offer great value and full recognise how important this is to our fans and everyone who love our products.

LEGO Technic Material Handler (42144) & Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter (42145) Revealed

LEGO has published the Taiwanese 2HY Catalog here it shows two more LEGO Technic sets that are supposed to be coming soon, the Material Handler (42144) and Airbus H175 Rescue Helicopter (42145).

There haven’t been many larger scale Technic aircrafts that have been released in recent years so the helicopter should bode well for fans unless there’s another cancellation. We already know what happened with the Bell Boeing V-22 Osprey (42113) a few years ago due to it being a military vehicle. There is a H175M that is used in the UK as a military derivative so we’ll see if it actually gets released or gets axed at the last minute again.

BrickLink Designer Program Mountain View Observatory Pricing Update

If you purchased the Mountain View Observatory during round 3 of the BrickLink Designer Program, there is a price change that you may be happy about. According to BrickLink, there was a technical error which showed incorrect pricing where some people would see a lower price ($250) and some would see the full price ($320) when checking out. The good news is that when LEGO/BrickLink is ready to ship the set in Spring 2023, all customers who bought it will be charged the lower price.

Billund, June 1st, 2022: The LEGO Group today announces its launch of the “A-Z of Awesome’, an ongoing campaign which runs into 2023 using LEGO builds to celebrate inclusivity and embrace self-expression in the LGBTQIA+ community.

The A-Z will be developed in creative LEGO creations to help LGBTQIA+ families use play to have open conversations about their identities. For the alphabet to be created in the most authentic and meaningful way possible, the designs of each letter will be created by members of the LGBTQIA+ community, including LEGO fans, young and old, members of the community and LEGO employees.

Launching during Pride Month, the alphabet aims to build understanding and acceptance of the LGBTQIA+ community and the different abbreviations used.

‘The A-Z of Awesome’ aims to present the community’s vocabulary more widely through a fun and playful medium. The LEGO Group is inviting submissions including an explanation of what the build means to its creator, which will be featured on a dedicated website www.LEGO.com/AtoZ.
