LEGO Brick Sketches Price Adjustment on LEGO Shop

LEGO has quietly dropped the price for all the LEGO Brick Sketches to $16.99 on the LEGO Shop. This is a straight up price adjustment from the original $19.99 price point and not a discounted price. There’s no word why the price change but it’s good for those who haven’t picked them up yet. For those who already bought them when they first came out last July, we’re pretty much out of luck on it but we can expect to see the new price on future Brick Sketches.

The mother panda is in a sitting position. The build uses a number of the Brick 1X2X1 2/3 W/4 Knobs for the head which allows it to have details on all four sides. It has its own baseplate which includes a red lantern as well as a small mandarin orange tree. The tree also has a couple of small lanterns.

One of the baby pandas is also in a sitting position. Like its mother, the head uses the specialized bricks for the head but in a smaller scale. It also comes with a bamboo stalk.

The other cub is similar to the other one except that the legs are straight and there’s a Technic hole in the back to connect to the baseplate. This makes it look like it’s either sleeping or playfully frolic on the floor. It also has a stalk of bamboo.

Overall, it’s nice to see LEGO expand on the the Lunar New Year celebration but the LEGO BrickHeadz Chinese New Year Pandas (40466) seem to be somewhat lacking something. The mother panda and her baseplate are the best things from it and I do like the detailing in the tree. They are cute and I have them displayed on my shelf but the price … Continue

Toy Fairs Delayed/Cancelled Around the World

This is usually the time of the year where we get excited for some of the toy fairs that where we get details of the 2HY LEGO sets. Unfortunately, the COVID-19 pandemic is still wrecking havoc around the world and that means that many of the events that should be happening have been delayed further or cancelled altogether. The big one is the New York Toy Fair which is when we get a first glimpse at the sets but they have announced that the show will not be taking place this year, at least in New York. It was originally planned for May 2021. In addition, the London Toy Fair has announced that their event will not be taking place either while the Nuremberg Toy Fair has been pushed to summer 2021.

Obviously this is disappointing but not unexpected and understandable due to the events happening throughout the world. LEGO has been doing their own reveals, as seen late last year, when they revealed some of the new products that have been recently released on the LEGO Shop. It’s wishful thinking but maybe they could something like what Hasbro is doing with Hasbro Pulse and Fan First Friday’s where they reveal new products every week but that probably won’t happen. As least we’ll still get guaranteed reveals of the D2C sets that will be released this year.
