LEGO Ideas First 2020 Review Stage Winner Announced

After a long review, LEGO has announced the winner of the LEGO Ideas First 2020 Review Stage which consisted of 26 projects. The winning project is the Earth Globe by Guillaume Roussel (Disneybrick55). The build features a buildable globe that you can use for educational purposes.

In addition, the Sonic Mania – Green Hill Zone is still being considered as a possible set but LEGO needs further review on it. Considering that Sonic has crossed over to Nintendo, it’s possible that the set will be under the Nintendo umbrella.

After the review, there are however, 24 projects that were rejected. This review stage was the largest during the time until the Second 2020 Review Stage even more with 35. LEGO fans were hoping that more projects would pass but it didn’t work out that way.

LEGO also did a Music to our Ears contest to build something musical and the winner of that contest was the Legendary Stratocaster by TOMOELL. This build will also become an official LEGO Ideas set as well.

LEGO Supports BIONICLE: Quest for Mata Nui Fan Made Game

If you’re a fan of the LEGO BIONICLE theme, you may have known about a fan made open world game called BIONICLE: Quest for Mata Nui and LEGO has finally acknowledged it and are supportive of it. CrainyCreations, who has been developing it for six years, has been in contact with The LEGO Group and LEGO Games to discuss the future of the game. The game itself is set in the world of LEGO BIONICLE and it “retells the 2001 story of the Toa Mata’s quest for the Kanohi Masks of Power, culminating in their battle against Makuta.”

As many fans are aware, there is a fan made BIONICLE game 6 years in the making that was announced a few months ago. Recently the creator of the game made a statement online about speaking directly to TLG. I can confirm that CrainyCreations has been in touch with TLG. Statement below:

A message from LEGO Games:

“We can confirm CrainyCreations, the creators behind “Bionicle: Quest for Mata Nui”, was in dialog with us (i.e. LEGO Games) to discuss the future plans of the game including ways the project can continue to exist. We see game development as an exciting opportunity to add new way to engage with the LEGO brick. In the LEGO Games team, we are always looking for ways to inspire and encourage the fan community including a recently BETA launched LEGO Microgame in partnership with Unity. Perhaps this can help give others the tools to do what CrainyCreations has done by encouraging and making

ToySphere Launches New Way to Shop for LEGO

There’s a new service that has recently launched that is a new way to explore and shop for LEGO called ToySphere. What it basically does is that it takes all the LEGO themes and puts theme into “spheres” to give you a visual way to see all of the sets that have been released in a particular theme from the last decade. By zooming in on a certain item, you can either check out the description or purchase it off the LEGO Shop or on the secondary market if it’s retired.

Since ToySphere just went live, there are only a few spheres/themes available at the moment but will be continuously updated in the near future. Since we process visual data better, ToySphere has done a good job in putting all the sets in certain categories within the theme.

Sphere are excited to announce the launch of LEGO ToySphere, a completely unique and immersive format, reimagining shopping for LEGO and allowing fans to view the last decade of LEGO like never before.

Lifelong LEGO fans Olly Treadway and Warren Minde have come together to build ToySphere – bringing the excitement, playfulness and immersion of a trip to a real LEGO store online. Pouring time and passion into building this awesome new way to explore and shop LEGO, the team have spent the past six years on this epic fan project.

Combining Olly’s tech wizardry and passion for LEGO, with Warren’s years of experience consulting to the LEGO leadership at their HQ in Billund, Denmark, this is
