New Chinese Brick Company Producing AFOL Sets

Here’s something that has popped up on my feed and also readers emailing in about it but I questioned whether I should post about it or not. You may have heard of a few well-known builders in the LEGO community like The Arvo Brothers, Firas Abu-Jaber, Paul Boratko (CrowKillers), and Bangoo H, many of which have been featured on The Brothers Brick and other LEGO sites. Their LEGO builds are an envy of many builders who have tried to replicate themselves or take inspiration from.

The 29th Guangzhou Toy & Hobby Fair kicked off yesterday and there’s a Chinese “new” brick company who has appeared to be making sets based on the designs of some of the builders I’ve named above. In a post on Facebook, there are images of a company called Xingbao (星堡) who is owned by Meizi Model (美致模型), which is the same company that owns LEPIN, at the convention displaying some of the sets based off of the AFOL designs including The Arvo Brother’s Kaneda’s Bike and Alien, Bangoo H’s Laputa: Castle in the Sky music box, Fira’s Volkswagen Beetle, Ford GT, and Rolls Royce Springfield Roadster, and Paul’s Balisong supercar, just to name a few. It also appears that some of the designers have confirmed to have licensed their models out to the company.

This new company is essentially helping AFOLs who want their models become easier to obtain by their followers who do not have time to BrickLink the parts or whatnot. This whole thing … Continue

LEGO Collectible Minifigures Series 17 (71018) Highwayman Revealed

It looks like the Series 17 LEGO Collectible Minifigures (71018) have started to show up early in some places and we have a first look at the secret Highwayman minifigure that is included with wave. A user named lego_collector_dad has gotten a hold of the Highwayman at LEGOLAND Billund and he shown off the minifigure over on his Instagram page.

He has a black torso with dual molded legs. To complete the look he has a tricorn hat with a bandana, and a cape. The accessories include two Flintlock pistols. I’m not sure of all the secrecy behind it but he appears to be a fairly generic character.

LEGO Creator Mini Volkswagen Beetle (40252) Sold Out on Shop@Home

LEGO Creator Mini Volkswagen Beetle (40252)

It seems like the LEGO Creator Mini Volkswagen Beetle (40252) was a really popular promotion because it has now sold out on Shop@Home less than a week after it started. The promotion has been replaced by the LEGO City Police Helicopter (30351) and this promo will run until the end of the month. You can get it for free with purchases of $35 or more and it is the same promo that was ran for the first half of March.

As for the Mini Volkswagen Beetle, there may still be some left at LEGO Brand Stores. You may want to give them a call to see if they have any left before you head out.

LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Snowspeeder (75144) Review

LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector's Series Snowspeeder (75144)

It was just only a few weeks ago when the LEGO Star Wars Ultimate Collector’s Series Snowspeeder (75144) was officially announced but we’ve managed to get a hold of the set, courtesy of LEGO, and we’re happy to bring you this review of the set. Coming in at 1,703 pieces, the UCS Snowspeeder will retail for $199.99 and will be available starting April 29 for LEGO VIP early access and on May 4 for the general public. The contents of the box include 13 numbered bags, a loose 8×16 plate, a black 8×16 flat tile, and the instruction booklet packaged with the sticker sheet.

More Details of Rumored LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon

It looks like there’s more information coming out today that gives more details of the rumored LEGO Star Wars UCS Millennium Falcon. Stash2Sixx over on Eurobricks has reported that it will be at least $600 and it will be released around October. He also has given some info about some of the minifigures that will be included in the set such as Hoth Leia, Hoth Han, Chewbacca, Finn, Rey, BB8, Old Man Han, and possibly a Mynock. These minifigures correspond to the ones my source gave me a few months ago of the original trilogy minifigures.

If you haven’t heard of Stash2Sixx before, they have given correct information before in the past about LEGO Star Wars sets so I consider them be a credible source.
