LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary Initial Look

LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary

We haven’t talked about any LEGO books in quite a while but it looks like there’s now an image of the upcoming LEGO DC Super Heroes Visual Dictionary that is slated to come out later this year. It is basically an updated version of the LEGO DC Universe Super Heroes: Batman Visual Dictionary but this book will include pretty much everything LEGO DC-related that has been released from the past few years. You’ll also notice the blank space for an exclusive super hero minifigure which is basically the main draw for most fans. There’s no word yet on who this character is but hopefully it’s somebody that we haven’t gotten before. Chances are it’s another variant of an existing character but it’s fun to guess. Who do you think this exclusive minifigure will be?

Anyways, you can now pre-order the book on Amazon and it’ll be released on September 4. You also get the Amazon pre-order price guarantee where if the price drops after you place your order before the release date, you’ll only pay the lowest price that it’s offered at.

LEGO Friends Friendship Flower (30404) Polybag Coming to Toys R Us

LEGO Friends Friendship Flower (30404)

If you missed out on the LEGO Friends Friendship Flower (30404) polybag back during the Valentine’s Day only promotion on Shop@Home, don’t worry as Toys R Us will be carrying it very soon. While at work today, I came across a box of them that was misshipped to my store which was actually supposed to go to a Toys R Us location. The polybag will retail for $3.99 each and the item number for it is 564017. There’s no word yet on when it will be available.

LEGO 60th Anniversary 10 Foot Brick Mini Documentary

Last month, LEGO celebrated the 60th anniversary of the LEGO brick by placing a large-scale model of the red 2×4 in the middle of New York. They’ve also released a mini documentary of how the master builders transported the brick to the Flatiron District location. The video was released last week but due to the hooplah of the 2018 New York Toy Fair, it was overlooked. It’s cool to see these kinds of videos and if you didn’t know, LEGO has a secondary channel where they post these behind the scenes stuff.

Toys R Us Reported to Close Additional 200 Stores

You may have already heard this on the news but The Wall Street Journal is reporting that Toys R Us may close another 200 stores in addition to the 180 that was previously announced last month. This reported wave of closings will cut the number of stores in the US nearly in half. Honestly, I didn’t hear anything about the closings when I went in to work today after I read up on a few articles before going in. Supposedly there was a also conference call to discuss the future plans but I don’t see any articles of the results. I’ll see what information is known when I go back tomorrow.

If the new closings are true, that means it’ll be even harder for LEGO fans to get some of the exclusive items like polybags various sets that Toys R Us carries. It’ll be interesting to see if these exclusives are shifted to other retailers like Walmart and Target. To be fair, even though I work at Babies R Us, I do like shopping at TRU for some of the LEGO exclusives as well other stuff I collect. The only thing that bugs me about this whole thing is the bonuses that go to the executives instead to using this money to reinvest into the company. Maybe that’s not how it works and why I run a LEGO blog instead of a large company.

Fast Company has released their list of the 2018 edition of the World’s Most Innovative Companies and LEGO was named as the #6 company out of 10 under the Consumer Electronics category. The main reason for that LEGO was honored in this category was because of boosting children’s coding skills by the way of LEGO Boost. LEGO Life, which was launched last year, also contributed to the company being named in the Consumer Electronics category. This app allows children to share their creations online in a safe environment. Check out the press release that LEGO has released regarding the honor.

LEGO Group earns no. 6 spot on list of Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Consumer Electronics

NEW YORK (February 20, 2018) – Fast Company today announced its annual ranking of the world’s Most Innovative Companies (MIC) for 2018, honoring leading enterprises and rising newcomers that exemplify the best in business and innovation, which includes the LEGO Group at number six on the Top 10 Most Innovative Companies in Consumer Electronics list. Editors noted that the iconic toy brand made the list for boosting children’s coding skills.

In 2017, the LEGO Group introduced two significant innovations to further bridge the divide between physical and digital play: LEGO® BOOST and LEGO® Life.

LEGO BOOST is a super-charged LEGO set that lets children as young as seven years old bring their LEGO creations to life through a simple, app-based coding language. Embracing a “fun-first” vision, LEGO BOOST empowers children in both the physical and digital creation of
