LEGO Harry Potter 2021 Advent Calendar (76390) Revealed

LEGO has revealed the new LEGO Harry Potter 2021 Advent Calendar (76390) with a product listing on the LEGO Shop. The set has 274 pieces and will retail for $39.99 and will be available starting on September 1. This new one will have six minifigures to collect including Harry Potter, Ron Weasley, Hermione Granger, Draco Malfoy, Dudley Dursley, and Griphook. It will also include two wizard card tiles to fill out your collection if you’re looking to complete the set.

A special Christmas treat for Harry Potter™ fans. The LEGO® Harry Potter™ Advent Calendar (76390) contains 24 daily gifts for kids to reveal throughout December’s build-up to Christmas.

LEGO CON 2021 Officially Announced for June 26

That teaser that LEGO did last week which we though was going to be some new product turns out to be a new event LEGO is hosting called LEGO CON. It is a two hour live event that looks like LEGO’s own toy fair since there’s no Comic Con this year in which there will be official set reveals, special guests, live builds, and Q&As with LEGO designers. It will be live on LEGO.com/legocon at 9am PST on June 26.

LEGO Ideas Seaside Gift with Purchase Set Winner Announced

LEGO has announced the winner of the LEGO Ideas Seaside contest in which the winning build will become the next gift-with-purchase set and the title of Fan Designer. The winner with 969 votes is Ray the Castaway by DadiTwins (shown above) and it was a runaway choice from fans as it had over 400 votes over the next runner up build. There’s no word on when it will be released as a GWP but it’ll be probably at least a year if you compare it to previous GWP building contests.

LEGO Space Stars Puzzle Pre-Order on Chronicle Books

Chronicle Books has a pre-order up for a new 1000 piece puzzle called LEGO Space Stars. The puzzle costs $17 and it features eight minifigures in the foreground and the Galaxy Explorer (497) and Galaxy Commander (6980) in the background. The puzzle will be released on November 2.

LEGO Announces Partnership with UNICEF for Children in Need in China

A few days ago, LEGO announced that the LEGO Foundation will form a partnership with UNICEF to provide playful parenting to children in need in China. It is a 3 year partnership that will see $2.5 million invested to providing resources to support children in disadvantaged regions. It is expected to 20,000 children aged 0 to 6 years old and around 40,000 caregivers will benefit directly through access to better quality community-based family support services, improved parenting practices and behaviors, and use of age-appropriate play materials.

The LEGO Group and the LEGO Foundation join forces with UNICEF to provide playful parenting to children in need in China

Billund, May 27, 2021: The LEGO Group, the LEGO Foundation, and UNICEF today announced a partnership to bring learning-through-play to help early years development in children living in disadvantaged regions of China.

The three-year partnership will see approximately US$2.5 million invested in providing resources to community-based family support programmes to help caregivers understand the importance and life-long benefits of incorporating play into their everyday lives and enhance caregivers’ capacity to better support their young children.

Research has found that caregivers and young children in less developed areas interact less, and that disparity exists between urban and rural areas in many aspects of early childhood development, such as the opportunity to develop language.

LEGO Announces LEGO Ninjago Ninja Vlogs

LEGO has announced they have launched their first digital vlog series for LEGO Ninjago called Ninja Vlogs. The vlogs feature Jay and Nya who are played by actors using motion capture and real-time rendering and it combines CGI along with a live action performance. The first episode airs today over at https://www.lego.com/en-us/kids with subsequent episodes following every second Friday.

Ninja Vlogs Go! The LEGO Group Launches First Digital Vlog Series

LEGO® Ninjago Characters Jay and Nya to be played by actors using motion capture and real-time rendering

May 28th, 2021: Today, the LEGO Group steps into a new realm of adventure and discovery as it launches the first episode of Ninja Vlogs, a brand-new series of motion capture vlogs aimed at viewers ages 6-12 years. Hosted by Jay and Nya, two familiar faces from LEGO® Ninjago, the interactive vlogs offer a new way for young fans to connect with the beloved characters and even get involved in the story themselves!

For the first time ever, the LEGO Group is introducing content produced using motion capture and real-time rendering. Motion capture is a 3D production approach in which the performance of an actor is recorded using a suit with motion trackers and mapped onto a 3D character, thereby allowing the character to mirror the actor’s movements. Meanwhile, real-time rendering calculates 3D images at high speed so that scenes which consist of a multitude of images appear to be occurring in real time.

Merging the two techniques in relation to LEGO characters, models and settings combines the best
