New LEGO Brick Sketches Sets Revealed

Brickset has just revealed a brand new line coming out soon called LEGO Brick Sketches. As you can see from the images, they look very familiar. That is because the designer for these sketches is Chris McVeigh. You may have seen his work a few years ago before he was hired by LEGO and now his idea has became official sets.

As for the LEGO Brick Sketches, there are four sets in the initial wave including Batman (40386), First Order Stormtrooper (40391), The Joker, (40428), and BB-8 (40431). There’s no word on pricing or when they will be available but I’m guessing these are the August 1 summer wave sets.

LEGO City 2019 Advent Calendar (60235) Amazon Sale – May 2020

It’s Christmas in the spring as Amazon has the LEGO City 2019 Advent Calendar (60235) on sale for 37% off the retail price. This is the lowest price it has been at in a few months and only second to the deeper sale it had at the beginning of the year. The set has 234 pieces and it has seven minifigures including Santa Claus. Since the box doesn’t really label it for 2019, it can be used in the future as well.

More LEGO Super Mario Sets Found

Slovak site Svetmodelov.sk has posted more product listings for upcoming LEGO Super Mario theme. They are loosely translated so they aren’t very accurate. It looks like these are to customize the Mario device to other costumes that he has worn in the franchise. I’m curious to see if Flying Mario is Raccoon Mario or Cape Mario. As of now, we still haven’t seen much out of the theme but hopefully we get some more details soon. It was rumored that LEGO was to reveal more about it during San Diego Comic Con but we’ll see what happens now since SDCC moved to a virtual format for this year.

LEGO Monkie Kid Behind the Scenes Look

When we got the press kit for the new LEGO Monkie Kid theme, we also got some behind the scenes images of the development process for the line. A number of LEGO designers from other themes came in and helped create the eight sets in the initial wave. These designers headed by Simon Lucas (The LEGO Ninjago Movie), include Justin Ramsden, Chris Perron, Nick Vas, and more. As mentioned before, the sets have been in development for over two years with close collaboration with parents and children in China and it is the first LEGO theme to be inspired by one culture.

LEGO Monkie Kid Animated Series Trailer

Yesterday was the big announcement for the LEGO Monkie Kid sets and LEGO is going all in on it which also includes an animated television series. Along with the press kit that we got, we have the official trailer for the show. The whole theme itself has been in development for over two years it was worked on with close collaboration with kids and parents in China to ensure authenticity to local culture. We don’t know yet when the show will be airing but we’ll let you know when we have information about it. The LEGO Monkie Kid sets are now available for purchase worldwide.
