LEGO Monkie Kid Behind the Scenes Look

When we got the press kit for the new LEGO Monkie Kid theme, we also got some behind the scenes images of the development process for the line. A number of LEGO designers from other themes came in and helped create the eight sets in the initial wave. These designers headed by Simon Lucas (The LEGO Ninjago Movie), include Justin Ramsden, Chris Perron, Nick Vas, and more. As mentioned before, the sets have been in development for over two years with close collaboration with parents and children in China and it is the first LEGO theme to be inspired by one culture.

LEGO Ideas Holiday (Vacation) Build Contest for Future GWP Set

LEGO has recently kicked off a new building contest on LEGO Ideas where the winning build will be turned into a future gift-with-purchase set. This is similar to the Moments in Space Space Rocket Ride (40335) from a few years back. The object is to build something that is related to a holiday which is the UK version of a vacation. The minimum amounts of bricks needed is 150 bricks and the max is 250. The grand prize winner will get a slew of great prizes but the best one is probably your build being an official LEGO set. The deadline to submit your entries is June 12 at 6am EST.

Your dream holiday… What does that look like? Is it enjoying a meal with friends and family? Is it exploring coral reefs in tropical waters? In this contest, we’re asking you to come up with a small model that helps turn that holiday into THAT holiday. It could be a rowing boat to go fishing in, a picnic bench to enjoy a BBQ with. Use your own holidays or your dream holidays as inspiration!

The only restrictions are that your model should be at most 250 bricks, with a minimum of 150 bricks.

Maybe research some holidays you dream of taking, and get building!

As the Grand Prize winner of this contest you will get the exclusive opportunity to have your model transformed into a new LEGO Gift with Purchase set. On top of that, you will also receive the following:

• The exclusive opportunity

LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga Release Date Reportedly to be October 20

Earlier this week, TT Games and Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment revealed a new key art for LEGO Star Wars: The Skywalker Saga. A few days after, Star Wars released a this week’s recap video and they also talked about the game. According to Reddit, they had to reupload the video due to them reportedly revealing the release date of the game on accident. The new video doesn’t show the date to be October 20 which has been clipped out but many fans noticed it.

In a recent interview, Lucasfilm Games managing producer Craig Derrick says there will be about 500 Star Wars characters in the game with a lot of them being playable ones. There’s not much more details about the game that were revealed in terms of gameplay. I’m guessing the details are being held off until video game announcement season later this summer. As we know by now, E3 has been cancelled as well as San Diego Comic Con so any new gameplay hopefully will be shown online at their discretion since we know absolutely nothing about it even after a year after being announced and if the game is to be released in October, we’ll most likely see more of it by then.

Is LEGO Overwatch Theme Cancelled?

For those who know me, I’m a huge fan of Overwatch and have been collecting many things from the line including the LEGO Overwatch sets. It’s a pretty niche theme but there were some cool parts and minifigures that have come out of it. The sets did release when the hype for the game died down substantially but there were still many dedicated players and fans.

Since the game was released, there were 21 original characters available to play and by the time the sets were released in January 2019, there were 29 total characters. Out of those 29, we only had minifigures of 15 of them, 16 if you count Bastion, however we were still missing some popular characters like Lucio and Mei. In fact, we didn’t get six minifigures from the original characters (Lucio, Mei, Torbjorn, Zenyatta, Symmetra, and Zarya).

Fast forward to summer 2019 when there were rumors of another wave that set to release some time in 2020. Brickset has sets 76978-76983 in their database since July 2019 but those are just placeholders. I’ve been talking to friends and reading online and most have been saying that we may not see another wave of LEGO Overwatch sets and the theme may have been cancelled outright. However, I want to note that Overwatch 2 was to be released this year but was delayed and those placeholder sets could have been tied to the sequel. Whatever the case is, LEGO won’t speak on such matters so we don’t exactly know what is going on … Continue
