The LEGO Ideas The Flintstones (21316) currently has a promotional coupon on Amazon in which works out to be about a 16% discount. It is still priced at $59.97 but you can save $9.98 on it if you apply the coupon on the page. The set hasn’t been on sale since late December and it could be one of the sets that will be going away later this year as more LEGO Ideas sets are released this year.
The LEGO Group has announced that they will be livestreaming their 2019 Annual Results press conference on March 4. They will be giving details on their earnings from last year compared to the previous year and other relevant details such as revealing top selling LEGO themes. The livestream will be at 10am CET which is 1am PST/4am EST. If you’re awake at that time, you can watch it the stream here. I’ll do a recap of it shortly after it is over.
In some sad news today coming out of Denmark, the original creator of the LEGO Minifigure, Jens Nygaard Knudsen, passed away a few days ago. Minifigures are some of the most popular items in LEGO sets and they have evolved throughout the 40+ years they have existed. His legacy will live on as LEGO produces many, many more minifigures in the future. Jens was 78.

LEGO at the 2020 New York Toy Fair has officially revealed the LEGO Minions: The Rise of Gru sets. There are five sets that were shown off in a wide range of settings including the brick-built Minions which reminds me of the LEGO Spongebob Build-A-Bob (3826) from 2007. I’ve been told that the LEGO Creator Train (30575) polybag has now been found at Target stores. I have no other information on it except that was found at the LEGO section as well as at the checkout lanes. All of the pieces in the set are pretty common except for the 2×2 round plate with knob which was introduced last year. Thanks to Jesse for the heads up.
The 2020 New York Toy Fair kicks off later this week and LEGO will again have a presence there. I’ve been told they will only be showing off products that will be launching in the first half of the year so we won’t be seeing any of the fall/winter 2020 LEGO sets. We probably will finally see sets that were reported on from the Nuremberg Toy Fair so that’ll hold us over for now. I personally won’t be there but The Brick Fan will have a representative on hand for photographs and set details so stay tuned.
If you’re going to the LEGO House, you’ll be able to see a new display set up for the LEGO Collectible Minifigures series. It has been a whole ten years since LEGO launched the “theme” and to commemorate the event, there will be a display showing all of the minifigures that have been released the past decade. We’re up to Series 19 with 20 coming later this year as well as a few licensed waves and for their own IPs like The LEGO Movie and The LEGO Ninjago Movie. Who has been collecting from the start and do you have a complete collection including the ever exclusive Mr. Gold?
