LEGO Masters Coming to US

LEGO Masters

If you haven’t heard about it before, LEGO Masters is a hit TV show over in the UK that is basically a building competition show for AFOLs. It has been announced today that it will be coming here to the United States. UK-based independent production company Tuesday’s Child is teaming up with Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment to produce the US version of the show. There’s no details of when it will air but it’s exciting to see the show here. Which AFOLs could we expect to see?

Conversations Starting with U.S.-based Platforms

Los Angeles, Ca.—Endemol Shine North America and U.K.-based independent production company Tuesday’s Child are teaming with Brad Pitt’s Plan B Entertainment to jointly produce a U.S. version of the hit British series “LEGO® MASTERS.”

The production companies are set to start conversations with potential American-based platforms later this month.

Originally created by Tuesday’s Child, “LEGO MASTERS” first launched on Channel 4 in the U.K. in 2017, quickly becoming the network’s highest-rated new series, nearly doubling its primetime average with young adults. Since then, “LEGO MASTERS” was renewed by Channel 4 and local versions of the successful format have begun launching around the world.

Along with Plan B Entertainment, Sharon Levy, DJ Nurre and Michael Heyerman will serve as executive producers for Endemol Shine North America, Karen Smith and Steph Harris will serve as executive producers for Tuesday’s Child and Jill Wilfert and

LEGO Asia Exclusive Sets Building Instructions

LEGO Chinese New Year's Eve Dinner (80101)

Two of the Asia exclusive LEGO sets are currently available on the other side of the world and on the secondary market but for the majority of us, we have to rely on other means to build them. Luckily, LEGO has provided the building instructions in PDF format for us to build the two sets. There are some exclusive parts so you’ll have to find substitues or omit them completely, mainly for the printed pieces. It’s a shame that LEGO decided not to release these sets worldwide but at least we’re able to build them to an extent. I’m in the process of getting a hold of the sets from a few sources to do reviews on them but it may take a while as they are very popular right now. Thanks to Ruby for the heads up on the instructions.

LEGO Toy Story 4 Sets Confirmed for 2019

LEGO Juniors Toy Story 4

The European 2019 catalogs for the first half of the year are now available and they have confirmed there will be some LEGO Toy Story 4 sets coming. According to the Spanish catalog, there will be some LEGO Toy Story 4+ sets and the English version confirms there will be a LEGO DUPLO Toy Story set. Rumor has it that it is a train set with Buzz Lightyear and Woody. Since the movie comes out in June, the 4+ and DUPLO sets will probably come out in May.

The Brick Fan 2018 Recap

It’s another year in the books and we are now finally able to take a look at the 2018 website traffic and changes on The Brick Fan. You may or may not have noticed, we made some major changes to the site during the summer and fall. We changed hosting companies which resulted in better stability and we also changed the website theme. It may not look that much different from the one we have when we first started the site back in 2012 but it is much smoother and has additional functionality.

As a result as far as numbers are concerned, we ended 2018 with 14,847,830 pages views and that is a whopping 63% increase in traffic from 2017. Everything across the board increased which you can see below.

In June, we spiked in traffic probably due to some behind-the-scenes things I was working on and in September, we rolled out the new layout. Our highest traffic day was on November 22 with 82,568 views. That was the day that images of the January 2019 sets started coming out.

Some other random high traffic days include:

– September 27: LEGO FORMA Theme Officially Announced

– October 10: LEGO Overwatch Omnic Bastion (75987) Revealed

– October 22: LEGO Overwatch Official Images Found at Target

Finally, we finished with 886 posts for the year with 4,818 comments on those posts. Both counts are slightly down from 2017 but considering I was basically working three jobs at one period of time last year, that’s not too bad.… Continue

The LEGO Movie 2 Rex's Plantimal Ambush (30640)

There is a new The LEGO Movie 2: The Second Part polybag that has showed up on LEGO’s servers called Rex’s Plantimal Ambush (30640). It has 32 pieces and it features Chris Pratt’s Rex Dangervest along with plant-like creatures from The Jungle Planet.

I’m not sure of the availability of the polybag at this time. Since it is on LEGO’s servers, it could be a future gift-with-purchase promotional item however it has also showed up in Walmart’s system through Brickseek as well. This might mean that Walmart may get it later on in the year, similar to some other promo items in the past.

This brings the number of known polybags for TLM2 to six so far and their availability are as below:

Emmet’s ‘Piece’ Offering (30340) – Target
Lucy vs. Alien Invader (30527) – Walmart
Mini Master-Building MetalBeard (30528) – Walmart
Mini Master-Building Emmet (30259) – Walmart/Target
Star-Stuck Emmet (30620) – EB Games pre-order bonus
