LEGO Volkswagen Käfer Rumored for Second Half of 2016

CM4Sci over on Eurobricks has posted details on a new LEGO vehicles set that is rumored to come out possibly later this year and that is the Volkswagen Käfer, aka the Beetle. He mentions that it’ll be similar to some of the previous vehicles like the Mini Cooper (10242) and the Ferrari F40 with set number 10252. Keep in mind that LEGO has already released a version of this car in 2008 with set 10187 so this might be the newer style of the Beetle.

Yes, I know that today is still April Fools Day but remember that Just2Good also posted about the Disney Collectible Minifigures (71012) last year on this same day and it was in fact true so don’t put this rumor on the backburner just yet but don’t get your hopes up too high if this is a false rumor.

I’ll have more details, if any, when they become available.

Update: CM4Sci over on Eurobricks has reported that the set will indeed be the Volkwagen Beetle. It will be available for general release on August 1st for $99.99 with it being available for VIPs in July.

LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) Details

Back at the Nuremberg Toy Fair, LEGO revealed the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) that will be coming out later this year but there were no details on it. Our friends over at PromoBricks has found out some concrete info on it including the release date of August 1 and will be priced at €299 and £249 which was revealed at the London Toy Fair.

In addition, a Swiss online shop does not mention that there are any batteries included like the other Technic sets so we can assume there are no Power Functions in the set so the pricing of the set will be mostly on the parts count which is still unknown at this time.

Another small detail that Michael has given is that the Porsche 911 GT3 RS will be a “lava orange” color and not the prototype camouflage that is shown in the image above which car makers use to disguise their future models.

Given some of the details, are you still on board with the LEGO Technic Porsche 911 GT3 RS (42056) or has it deterred you somewhat?

Until confirmed, take this information as only rumors but don’t be surprised if the info is correct. Thanks to Christian for the email.

LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order Stormtrooper (30602) Revealed as May the 4th 2016 Promo

LEGO Star Wars First Order Stormtrooper (30602) - May the 4th

If you missed my previous post of the LEGO May 2016 Store Calendar, the exclusive minifigure was revealed to be the LEGO Star Wars: The Force Awakens First Order Stormtrooper (30602). At first, the minifigure looks extremely close to the one found in the First Order Battle Pack (75132). The only difference is that the torso has a minor addition and a backpack. This version of the Stormtrooper looks to be Jakku version of the character but that could be debated.

Initial responses to the First Order Stormtrooper (30602) have been somewhat negative as many people are fine with the one that came in the Battle Pack. Since technically it is a new exclusive, albeit the small changes, polybag collectors will still probably want one however there could have been other better choices of characters. Do note that the threshold to get the minifigure for free is now $50 for 2016 instead of the $75 from previous years. Maybe LEGO is banking on people getting multiples of this polybag with the lower price.
