LEGO Legends of Chima Pictures Leaked

As you may have seen, there are some leaked pictures swirling around the web of pictures of the new LEGO Legends of Chima coming out sometime next year. The pictures are found on an eBay listing that ended July 15th. Two of the four pictures in the listing are marked “Confidential” and “Not to be copied or disclosed” and we here at The Brick Fan will be adhering to the wishes of The LEGO Group.

From what I see in the listing, it looks like that will be the theme that will be replacing Ninjago. There are spinners, animal head figures, and lots of weapons. A poster by the name of pezdez on the Brickset forums states that:

a series called Chima (imagine Animal heads like Cats, Lions, alligators, Eagles, Dogs, but with cool scars and minifig bodies, and they have Ripcords instead of Spinners.

So far, there are mixed reactions about the Legends of Chima. Considering these are pre-production pictures, I’m holding off any opinions about the theme until an official comment from LEGO comes out in the near future.

LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Confirmed For January 2013?

Sources of Hoth Brick have confirmed that there will be LEGO Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles (TMNT) licensed products coming in January 2013. Although there are no details on what the sets will consist of, we can speculate that the sets will be based on the new animated series on Nickelodeon debuting on September 29. This news comes to us after BrickUltra a couple of days ago broke the news that a user named chongcheng from LUGSing stated there might be products coming from the TMNT line:

“No evidence to show as yet. But a staff of a local LEGO Specialty shops say the TMNT keychains will be coming soon. Knowing LEGO, if the keychains are available, there are going to be sets. And there are going to be ninja turtles minifigs. Understand TMNT is under Nickelodeon (which LEGO already has worked with for Spongbob Squarepants), so the whole idea isn’t exactly far fetched”.

As a fan of the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles animated series in 1987, I am excited to see the Turtles in LEGO form next year. I’ll be posting more details about TMNT line as they come in the near future.

LEGO CUUSOO The Amazing Spider-Man

If you’ve seen Michael McCooey’s, aka mmccooey, work before, you’ve probably seen his MOCs of the poseable Batman and Deadpool figures. He has now created The Amazing Spider-man figure and needs your help to reach 10000 supporters on LEGO CUUSOO. Spider-Man is more flexible and agile than Batman and Deadpool so changes were needed:

NEW AND IMPROVED

-He has a ball joint at the base of the neck as well as pivot joint at the base of the skull, allowing him to look all the way down and over his shoulders when contorted.

-A mid-torso joint that allows him to bend his spine forward and back, it also rotates from left to right, like the waist joint.

-His elbows and knees are double jointed, which allows free range of movement and the ability to fully crouch his legs.

-The hips can now allow the legs up and over the wasteline allowing for those very spider-like poses.

-His ankles have a second pivot joint for extra steep ankle poses, as well of full range of motion in the main joint.

-His feet have an articulated toe piece to make those perching poses more natural.

Licensing probably won’t be an issue since there are Spider-man sets coming out next year but that’s a separate issue. This is an amazing figure and I would totally support the project on LEGO CUUSOO and hope you can show your support too!

LEGO CUUSOO UCS Sandcrawler Achieves 10000 Supporters

mb_bricks is now two for two in the LEGO CUUSOO community for projects achieving 10000 supporters. If you may remember, the Modular Western Town also accomplished this feat in May 2012. After many months of planning and building and almost a year of being on LEGO CUUSOO, the UCS Sandcrawler is the latest project to hit 10000 supporters. It will now move on to the next stage and the LEGO Jury review it in September. LEGO will now have to create a concept model and hopefully will not change it that much from the original model. One note is that LEGO does already have a licensing agreement with Lucasfilms so that won’t be much of an issue. We’ll have to see how many pieces will be needed to build the Sandcrawler and the cost of it. Maybe it can compete with the Taj Mahal (10189) to see which set can have the most pieces.

Street Fighter 2 Minifigures Rejected on LEGO CUUSOO

Street Fighter 2 minifigs - complete roster

A couple of days ago, there were some Street Fighter 2 minifigures posted by Julian Fong, aka levork, that showed up on Kotaku. The 16 minfigure project was a year and a half in the making for Julian. He submitted his project to LEGO CUUSOO to see if it could get 10000 supporters. Unfortunately, the project did not even get off the launching pad. Back in March, LEGO CUUSOO started refining projects that are submitted which means LEGO weeds out projects that are deemed inappropriate for children.

Your project refers to a brand or licensed property that contains content or themes that do not fit the LEGO Group’s standards for appropriate content. For details, please see the Acceptable Project Content section of the Project Guidelines and House Rules (lego.cuusoo.com/guidelines).

Warner Bros., The Dark Knight Rises, and LEGO

Warner Bros. has posted a press release of licensing and merchandising program for the The Dark Knight Rises which opens in theaters this weekend. There’s one part that was interesting about it.

Led by global master toy licensee Mattel, the film will also be supported by key partners such as The LEGO Group, Hallmark, Kinetix, Converse, Rubie’s Costume Company, and Titan Books, among many other licensees worldwide…The much-anticipated film is also being supported by the official partner in the construction category, LEGO, with a construction set inspired by The Dark Knight Rises;

So does this mean there will be a LEGO The Dark Knight set? Maybe. There were images of Batman, Bane, and Commissioner Gordon at this year’s San Diego Comic-Con but we were told that those minifigures were for the 2013 Super Heroes sets. If there are some new, unexpected LEGO Dark Knight Rises set(s), then that’s some awesome news. Maybe Warner Bros. and LEGO already had a plan to release a set to coincide with the movie release. Below is the official press release:
