LEGO at the 2013 London Toy Fair

Today in Kensington, London, the 2013 London Toy Fair kicked off. LEGO has a big presence there showing off the upcoming sets from a wide variety of themes. Our friends at Brick Fanatics made the rounds today and has given a list of sets that were on display. Unfortunately, photography was not allowed but so we have to wait a little longer to see what the new sets look like. It’s also nice to see the pricing we we can gauge how big the sets are without actually seeing images at this time.

Super Heroes – Nice to know what minifigures are included in the sets such as the War Machine we saw earlier.

LEGO 2013 Sets Delayed on Amazon

LEGO Star Wars No No on Amazon

News coming out from FBTB is that all of the LEGO sets coming out in January 2013 that were on sale on Amazon have been delayed and put on hold. The add to cart button has been set to pre-orders and the sets won’t be released until December 31. I believe all orders placed before today will still be shipped to you just in time for Chirstmas. Speculation from FBTB is that Amazon violated it’s contract with Toys R Us which gives TRU the right to sell products to the market first. As you may have seen, we’ve been reporting that many LEGO themes including Ninjago, Super Heroes, and Star Wars have been on sale ahead of the scheduled release dates. Even the Galaxy Squad sets have been taken off although LEGO has already released them in stores as well as Shop@Homeicon. If you were lucky to order any of the new 2013 sets, congratulations. For the rest of us, it looks like we’ll just have to wait a couple of weeks for the official LEGO release.

LEGO Galaxy Squad Minisite Live

LEGO Galaxy Squad Minisite

LEGO has been releasing minisites left and right the past couple of days including The Lone Ranger and Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles. The new Galaxy Squad is also another theme that gets their own minisite. Unlike the others, this minisite has some interactivity including an animation with the Vermin Vaporizericon and a Whack-A-Mole type of game called Cocoon Crusher 9000. The object of the game is to free the Galaxy Squad from cocoons by shooting at them. The game gets progressively faster as the levels get higher but it starts to get repetitive at round 7. You get 3 lives and if you don’t free the Squad in time, the game is over. There are also some unreleased content on the minisite which includes another web game called Bug Battle and another tab to link to the Apple iOS version of the same game. Check it out new Galaxy Squad minisite and have some fun with the game.

LEGO Galaxy Squad Polybags Revealed

Brickset has revealed two new polybags for LEGO Galaxy Squad: the Mini Mech (30230) and the Space Insectoid (30231). The instructions are readily available via Brickset’s instruction page. The human minifigures are ok but I would rather have more alien minifigures. These polybags are expected to be released sometime in 2013.

LEGO Galaxy Squad Space Swarmer (70700) Review

LEGO Galaxy Squad Space Swarmer (70700)

The new LEGO Galaxy Squad sets are now available in stores and the LEGO Galaxy Squad Space Swarmer (70700)icon set is the first set in the inital wave. The set contains 86 pieces and retails for $11.99 about $0.14/piece. The set contains two minifigures: the Alien Beetle and the Galaxy Squad’s Robot.

The Alien Beetle has a green exoskeleton printing on both the torso and the legs. It’s head is one big piece with four large black eyes. It’s accessory is a gray sonic gun with a pink stud in the front.

The Robot is on the blue squad and has some nice printing on both sides of the torso. The headpiece is shaped very well for a robot. It has a brick-built blaster with scope as well as a jet pack for accessories.

The main part of the set is the Space Swarmer. It looks similar to a large beetle. The majority colors of the Swarmer is bright green and red. The cockpit opens up to sit the Alien Beetle inside. The wings are able to flap much like a beetle’s. The main function is that it has a grabbing action to capture the Robot.

Check out Your Creative Friends’s video for more details of the Space Swarmer.
