Jurassic Park Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Jurassic Park project by Senteosan is the latest one to achieve 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. This comes only 43 days after Jurassic Park/Jurassic World projects were allowed again on LEGO Ideas when LEGO resolved their licensing conflicts back in October. If you remember, this same project was taken down in September 2013 because another construction toy company had the license for the IP. By getting 10,000 supporters in a very short amount of time, it shows that people do want to see this project as an official LEGO set. As we know by now, LEGO will be releasing Jurassic World sets around May 2015 so we’ll see if Senteosan’s project will be able to pass the review stage.

As my favorite movie of all-time, this Jurassic Park project had my complete support from the beginning. The set recreates the iconic scene at the Jurassic Park gate when Alan Grant, Ellie Sadler, and Ian Malcolm took the tour ride in the very familiar Ford Explorer. It also includes the Tyrannosaurus Rex that wrecks havoc to one of the Explorer Tour Vehicles when the power went out at the park. The minifigures that are included are the Alan, Ellie, and Ian in their movie accurate outfits.

Jurassic Park now joins a packed lineup in the Third 2014 Review Stage which includes the Avengers Helicarrier, the Labyrinth Marble Maze, the F7A, The Goonies 30th Anniversary Inferno, The Natural History Museum, and Lord of the Rings Set: Minas Tirith. Although there … Continue

LEGO Ideas Birds (21301) Official Images Revealed

LEGO Ideas Birds (21301)

LEGO has officially revealed the images of the new LEGO Ideas Birds (21301) set as well as an interview with the project creator, Tom Poulson. It consists of 580 pieces will be available on January 1, 2015 and Shop@Homeicon has it listed for $44.99.

The Hummingbird is of the Green Violetear (Colibri thalassinus) variety, the Robin is of the European variety (Erithacus rubecula), and the Blue Jay (Cyanocitta cristata) is native to North America. What’s cool about this set is that the name plates for each of the birds have their Latin names as well as the unique stands they sit on. The Hummingbird has a clear one which makes it look like it’s hovering next to the flower. The Robin is on a wooden branch and the Blue Jay is on a metal perch.

Check out the details of the LEGO Ideas Birds (21301) set below.

Put down your binoculars and get closer to nature with these intricate LEGO® models of well-known birds! Created by keen gardener and bird enthusiast Thomas Poulsom and selected by LEGO Ideas members, each replica bird hails from a different continent: the Robin from Europe; the Blue Jay from North America; and the Hummingbird from South America. These beautiful and detailed models come with their own presentation stands showing their scientific names, so that you can display your birds for all to enjoy or detach and play as you wish. This set also includes 3 booklets containing lots more information about each of these fascinating species as well as the

LEGO Ideas Lord of the Rings Set: Minas Tirith Achieves 10,000 Supporters

The Lord of the Rings Set: Minas Tirith by NujuMetru is the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. We’ve had plenty of LEGO LOTR sets in past but there were still many scenes in the trilogy that hasn’t been created yet including Minas Tirith. Not only is the project at a reasonable size, it also has plenty of minifigures and play features.

THe project now joins the Avengers Helicarrier, the Labyrinth Marble Maze, the F7A, The Goonies 30th Anniversary Inferno, and The Natural History Museum as the projects that are qualifed for the Third 2014 Review Stage. It looks like the LEGO Jury will have their hands full with all of these great projects.

LEGO BTTF Jules Verne Train Instructions by Team BTTF

Earlier this year, the BTTF – Jules Verne Train by Team BTTF achieved 10,000 supporters on then LEGO Ideas. Unfortunately, it wasn’t chosen as one of the projects that would be official sets in the First 2014 LEGO Review. For those who really wanted this to be a real set, there’s some good news.

Today, Team BTTF announced that they have provided the instructions for free in LXF format. You can easily import the instructions to LEGO Digital Designer (LDD) to build your own version of Jules Verne Train.

There are two different versions of the train: the regular locomotive version and the one with the motor included. Check out the video below to see the Jules Verne Train in action.

The Natural History Museum Achieves 10,000 Supporters on LEGO Ideas

The Natural History Museum by tjspencer1 becomes the latest project to hit 10,000 supporters on LEGO Ideas. There have been many modular builds on LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas but this project has the subject type that people could really get behind and it could be an official set if it passes the review stage. What’s cool about it is that it’s not based on any particular real-life museum so there’s no licensing issues (that I’m aware of) and it has a cool science background to it which LEGO does like to see judging from previous official LEGO CUUSOO/Ideas sets.

The Natural History Museum now joins the Avengers Helicarrier, the Labyrinth Marble Maze, the F7A, and The Goonies 30th Anniversary Inferno in the Third 2014 Review Stage.

LEGO Ideas First 2014 LEGO Review Results Announced

LEGO has just announced the latest LEGO Ideas projects to become official sets. There were six projects qualified for the review and after very long consideration, the LEGO Bird Project by DeTomaso will become LEGO Ideas #009.

But wait, that’s not it! The Big Bang Theory by Alatariel and GlenBricker based on the hit TV series will also become LEGO Ideas set #010. Ellen Kooijman, aka Alatariel, also becomes the first person to have two LEGO Ideas projects become official sets with the first one being the wildly popular Research Institute (21110)icon.

LEGO is still working on the details for the final product design, pricing, and availability are still being worked out. They are still evaluating the two Doctor Who projects so there’s still may be a chance that one of the two may become an official LEGO set as well.

The second 2014 LEGO Review stage is already underway and those result should be coming in late January 2015.
