The set has a whopping 2359 pieces and retails for $199.99. As an added bonus, you also get a FREE limited edition poster with your purchase. That is on top of the Jor-El Polybag you will be getting as well as FREE shipping. You have to be logged into with your LEGO ID to see the item and to purchase it or else you won’t be able to get access to the item at all. There is a limit of two sets per household.

LEGO The Lord of the Rings Father’s Day Challenge

LEGO is having a new building contest called the LEGO The Lord of the Rings Father’s Day Challenge. The objective is to build your favorite scene from the Lord of the Rings movies with your dad. Take a picture and submit it to the gallery and you are entered to win some great prizes. Judges will base the scene on the following criteria: creativity 40%, originality 30%, and chosen The Lord of the Rings theme 30%. You will need a valid LEGO ID to enter. The contest ends at 11:59:59 PM EDT on July 31st, 2013.

Looking at the rules for the contest, you have to create a scene from the Lord of the Rings and not from The Hobbit movie but that doesn’t mean that you can’t use parts from the Hobbit sets to make the LOTR scene.

Brick Fanatics is reporting that the LEGO Lord of the Rings Tower of Orthanc (10237) will have an early release date for LEGO VIP members. Registered VIP members will be able to purchase the set on June 17th at LEGO brand stores as well as on Shop@Home. The official release of the Tower will be on July 1st. LEGO has officially revealed the newest LEGO Lord of the Rings set in Portugal, the long awaited UCS The Tower of Orthanc (10237). The set contains 2359 pieces and will retail for $199.99 and will be available in July. This new Ultimate Collector Series LOTR set comes with 5 minifigures: Saruman, Grima Wormtongue, Gandalf the Gry, an Uruk-hai, and an Orc Pitmaster. It will also have a buildable Ent figure as well the Great Eagle which is also in the Battle At The Black Gate (79007) set. The set was teased back in January where there was a blurry image of what was believed to be the Tower but was taken down quickly. Below is the official press release of The Tower of Orthanc.

More Hi-Res LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013 Set Images

The other two LEGO Lord of the Rings Summer 2013 sets now have hi-res images courtesy of World of Games. Along with be released in June along with the Battle at the Black Gates (79007) and the Pirate Ship Ambush (79008).

The Wizard Battle (79005) – $12.99

The Wizard Battle contains 113 pieces and includes 2 minifigures: Gandalf the Grey and Saruman. This is the fourth set to have Gandalf the Grey minifigure but this one will not have a cape or his wizard’s hat. This set will also include the Palantír Seeing-Stone.

The Council of Elrond (79006) – $29.99

The Council of Elrond will have 243 pieces and include 4 minifigures: Elrond, Arwen, Frodo Baggins, and Gimli. This variant of Elrond is different than the one we got from the polybag.
