Amazon LEGO BOGO 40% Deal

I don’t usually do deals but Amazon has a pretty good one going on right now with a BOGO 40% off sale on select toys including LEGO sets from various themes like Star Wars, Lord of the Rings, The Hobbit, and Castle. Add a set to your cart and another of equal or lesser value and that one will be 40% off. Some of the sets already are already discounted so you’ll be getting a better deal.

One good deal is the LOTR Pirate Ship Ambush (79008) which has a discounted price of $82.50 and if you buy another one, you’ll be saving $33 on the second one making your total $132 or just $66 each. This is a pretty good way to build up your collection of ships. Another deal is the LOTR Battle at the Black Gate (79007) where you can have a full gate just like the film. Check out the full list of eligible sets here.

First Image of LEGO Star Wars MTT (75058)

LEGO Star Wars MTT (75058)

LEGO Kocka has posted the first image of the new LEGO Star Wars MTT (75058). Earlier this month, we reported that there were some minifigures listed with the set number in the instructions of the Mos Eisley Cantina (75052) set but there was no mention of what the set was. The minifigures that are in the set include Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, a Naboo Royal Security Guard, a Battle Droid Pilot, several Battle Droids, and a PK-4 Worker Droid. The last regular MTT set that was released was back in 2007 with the Trade Federation MTT (7662) and the polybag was in 2012.

LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar (75056)

Nrg on Eurobricks has posted a link to German toy store Spielwaren-Bludau.de who posted the official images of the LEGO Star Wars 2014 Advent Calendar (75056). The set was first seen at New York Toy Fair 2014 and we already know that Santa Darth Vader will be the final thing in the calendar. We now get to see the other builds for the rest of the calendar. A couple of the things that I like are the lightsaber fireplace and Luke’s Landspeeder. It consists of 274 pieces and retails for $39.99. What are your guys’ thoughts on the calendar?

LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side Exclusive Minifigure Revealed

LEGO Star Wars The Dark Side

There is now information of the exclusive minifigure that is in the new book by DK Publishing, LEGO Star Wars: The Dark Side. Over on the forums of Imperium der Steine, a user by the name of marc.hb has revealed that the minifigure included with the book will be Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious which was seen in an image of the German cover of the book. Although there is no images yet of the minifigure, there was an image a few months back on Eurobricks of a new torso for Palatine which is very similiar to the one seen in Episode 3 of the Microfighters video (see below). You can also see that the torso has tan hands. Will we also get those hands with the minifigure in the book? We’ll have to see when DK reveals the minifigure. So it looks like we’ll be seeing a new Emperor Palpatine/Darth Sidious LEGO minifigure. How do you guys feel about that?

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded Book Tour

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded Book Tour

The LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded national book tour with co-author of the book, Jason Fry, is going on right now and the first event of the tour was held at Philly Brick Fest a few weeks ago. Yesterday, I had the chance to attend the one here locally in San Diego.

This leg of the book tour was held at the Carlsbad City Library and the turnout was pretty good. There were activities that children could do such as coloring pages and watching animated Star Wars movies. There were also people dressed up as various Star Wars characters so kids can take a picture with them. The main attraction at the event was in the auditorium where Jason talked about the book and had a Star Wars trivia game. Kids who answered correctly were given a limited edition Jason Fry trading card. At the end of the presentation, Jason had a book signing where I had my book signed by him. If you followed my social media sites, you would’ve seen that I posted a picture a few weeks ago of an exclusive print that was also signed at PBF.

Overall, it was a pretty cool event and it was great meeting Jason again. The book tour will last until the end of the month so check out the schedule to see where Jason will be at next. You can also read my review of The Visual Dictionary here.

LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded Review

Back in 2009, DK Books released the LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary by Simon Beecroft. The book comprised of images and facts of LEGO Star Wars sets up to that point. It’s been five years since that book has been published and many more sets have been released since then. This year marks the 15th Anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars theme and what a better time to release a new edition of the book aptly called the LEGO Star Wars: The Visual Dictionary: Updated and Expanded. The book retails for $21.99 and contains 144 pages. Simon Beecroft returns as the author of the Visual Dictionary and Jason Fry joins as the co-author.

Cover

Like all other LEGO DK reference-type books, the Visual Dictionary is hardcover and has a holographic shine on the front and back of the book. It now features the iconic bounty hunter, Boba Fett, who replaces Darth Vader who graced the cover in the previous book. The lower right-hand corner has a window that shows the exclusive minifigure of the book, Luke Skywalker.

Minifigure

To commemorate the 15th Anniversary of the LEGO Star Wars theme, DK went back to its roots and has included the yellow skinned Luke Skywalker minifigure. This version of Luke pays homage to the one that was in the Landspeeder from back in 1999. Although there are similarities between the two, this new Luke has updated printing on the torso and legs. The back also has printing which the original version did not have. There’s been … Continue

New LEGO Star Wars Summer 2014 Set Found

The summer wave of LEGO Star Wars sets are starting to hit shelves early and there’s a new report on Hoth Bricks of a store exclusive set will also be released this summer with the set number 75058. There is an image from the instructions of the new Mos Eisley Cantina (75052) featuring six minifigures including Obi-Wan Kenobi, Qui-Gon Jinn, a Naboo Royal Security Guard, a Battle Droid Pilot, a Battle Droid, and a PK-4 Worker Droid.

From the looks of it, the set will be centered around Naboo. The PK-4 was in a cut scene from Episode I where it was stationed aboard the Saak’ak before the Invasion of Naboo so the set could be themed around that. Official images of the set are not available at this time since it is a retailer exclusive. There are many possibilities of what the set could be so what are your thoughts about it?
