The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey With LEGO Bilbo Baggins Minifigure Available at Target

The Hobbit DVD

Today is Tuesday which means new DVD and Blu-Ray releases. The main release today is the blockbuster hit, The Hobbit: An Unexpected Journey. Target stores have a Blu-Ray + DVD + UltraViolet Combo Pack that also includes a new version of the LEGO Bilbo Baggins minifigure. The 2-disc set retails for $24.99. Amazon also has the same DVD set but it doesn’t seem to include the minifigure. There’s no word on how many of these special DVD sets will be available so if you want the Bilbo Baggins minifigure, I’d suggest picking it up as soon as you can.

LEGO The Hobbit Life-Size Bag End Documentary

Back in December, LEGO post some pictures on Facebook of a life-size Bag End made completely out of LEGO. LEGO has released a short documentary on how they came up with the design and all the work the employees put in to complete the Bag End. The life-size build was based off the An Unexpected Gathering (79003) set and was blown up 20 times the size of the original set. The minifigures, however, were blown up 24 times. The dimensions are 17 feet wide by 10 feet deep 7 1/2 feet tall. It stated that it took 12 model shop employees to complete but sometimes went up to 15 or 16 people and took about 3000 hours to build it. Pete Donner states that the design on the computer said there were at least 2.5 million 1×1 bricks. Check out the video below to see this amazing build.

They are also having a special offer where you can get one for free with a $20 or more purchase of any LEGO product(s). This offer is valid for today and tomorrow only. LEGO The Hobbit Thorin and Company

Since I have all of The Hobbit sets now, I decided to have some fun with the Dwarves. After seeing the Thorin and Company promo picture, I wanted to recreate it with my minifigures. With some Photoshop editing help from Frozensky, the following is the end result.
